Default Forza 3 question (related to performance index)

So the letter assigned to your car, whether that be F,E,D,C,B,A,S or whatever, goes up when you upgrade your car past the limit to make it competitive with other cars in that class correct?

So ideally I thought you'd want to be on that limit, or just below to stay within that class, or so I thought, but then, (Don't know about online), but in the career, you will get a couple cars that have been tuned into the above class, and a couple still in the class below.

Yet they still compete together? Don't quite see how the class affects the game? Is it what class the cars start out in or what?

Also, for the leaderboards, does it work this way? e.g. if your car is a class E car, and you tune it to class B, does it go in the E or B class in the leaderboards? (I would of assumed B).

But then again, those already in B would be tuned up to say, S.

Argh, so confusing, another league for modified/standard?

So many questions .

Hey,

In career mode, a lot of people have been confused and not read the restrictions properly for the events. For example, if you go to a tourney that's for 6 cylinder cars, chances are that's the only restriction so your PI can be anything!

Go to an event, look at the restrictions. Unless it states that the event is limited to a certain car class/PI index, your PI can be anything!

Once you start unlocking R2/R1 cars, you can go back and blitz some earlier events that don't have PI restrictions. It's a bit silly if you ask me.

In regards to leaderboards; the class is determined by the current PI of the car. If you tune a c class car to an s class car, set a lap time; you will have posted a time for the s class leaderboards.

You ideally want to increase your car's PI to the limit of that class as generally speaking, the higher the PI; the better the car is.

If you're struggling for a few extra PI, don't forget that light weight wheels are a great option as is adding an LSD. As LSD's increase the cars weight, it will often lower the PI by 1 or 2 giving you chance to maybe increase the power which would of normally taken you 1 PI over the class limit.

So many different combos to get the most out of the cars it's incredible, really is.
