Update time!
Picked up a new bonnet from JoshG, fibreglass one with aerocatches already in it, my other bonnet had loads of stonechips and was starting to crack, and this ones much lighter. Will look good when painted...
Also I found more rust Another bit to be patched in, gutted because I thought I was past this stage, you can see how long its taking me to do stuff, as the other bits are surface rusting...

Old vs new bumper support wing bracket things, old ones had some extra holes, so thought I better sort them.

Trial fitted panels today, just roughly to check the new bumper/wing brackets we welded on are in the right place, actually looked a bit like a car for all of 5 minutes...
Then spent a while prepping up the drivers inner wing, still got a couple of bits I'm not happy with, will just have to grind them back and touch them in with etch again

Right, need to do a proper update, but I'll put a couple of pictures up to show where its getting too...
Finished the prep in the engine bay, spent hours and hours and hours in the garage over the last few weeks to get it to this stage, failing to prepare is preparing to fail
Etch primed where I can
Couldn't resist trial fitting the freshly powdercoated slam panel, more on this in the next update, maybe sometime next week

Cheers lads! It's certainly taking up a lot of my time at the minute. Mind blowing how many hours it took to prep it to this stage.
Cannot wait to see it all in sparkling red though. Plus, then it's all the nice jobs of building it back up, no muck, which will be bliss!

Don't have the time for any muck!
Will this be ready for FCS or is it going to take longer? Any hints to anything else that's going to happen to this car?

I'll post up some more pictures soon

Finally, all in etch primer. MASSIVE step. Now I've gotta make my spray booth out of my garage and get proper primer on her.

Better update over here hadn't I...
Okay, so a friend gave me a hand and we built a spray booth for my car out of an old gazebo, should keep the overspray all over the barn walls to a minimum! Needs finishing, I ran out of polythene
And seen as I was rained off work today, I cracked on seam sealing, got it all done, so now it's all ready to hit with the primer!
This sides had rather a few plates welded in, but all the tin worms gone now, all nicely sealed in, will look mint with fresh paint

Couldn't resist bolting some daft bits on, looks mean...
the inner window seals have been swapped for rallye ones, no more unsightly lip to hold on a door card that isn't there anymore.
Before...
After...
Bought plenty of black stainless bolts from Riggs for when I am building everything back up, there's practically every bolt you can see from the top of the engine bay here, well, everything that looks you in the face. The rest of the bolts I have taken out of the car I have bench wire brushed up, and they will be treated with a coat of etch primer and a couple of coats of satin black.
Yesterday was satchshift fitting day, I HATE drilling holes in my paintwork, everything was checked, double checked and triple checked, drilled, and all bare metal edges touched in...
The bottom plate for the satchshift didn't look great, and didn't match much in the car, luckily I have a lump of spare carbon knocking around just for this.
Before...
Carbon piece made up...
and in place...
