VibraTechnic Engine mounts
Right people,
Engine mounts are next on the cards for the little saxo. But im still unsure on which to buy.
I was pretty sure on buying the competition mounts but not sure now wether to get fast road ones or not.
The car is no daily, gets used once a week (if that) for a little b road blast. Plans are to make it more performance orientated and do alot more track days over the coming year or so.
Given my limited use with the car is it ok to get the competition mounts or am i asking for more trouble than they are worth in stuff liable to break?
Also i have a group a lower fork bush that i haven't fitted yet. Is it worth fitting it? ,as i have heard that vibrations are mad and they can lead to gearbox breakages.
Thanks for the help, sorry if its been asked a million times before.
Sam

I would get the cheapest solid rubber mounts. BakerBM lower GrpN and I think they do gearbox upper mount too.then Vibratechnics ECU mount.
GrpA lower fork bush is tiny, it dosent break the gearbox or anything. Think the rumours you have hear maybe the lower mount. One thing I would consider doing if using solid mounts would be seam weld the mounting plate the lower fork bolts too as apparently they can rip off. I had GrpA solid lower mount and fork bush and never had a problem though in thousands of miles.

Thats how Ive always done it. The quality of the BakerBM is good enough and durable enough to not warrent spending more on the vibratechnics imo. The Vibratechnic ones look better, but how often you going to see them?
Ive had a mix of bakerbm mounts before and always been good.
Hard Rubber upper and solid lower is how I like it.

I've always wondered what people rate and what they don't...
I'm currently running a group A bottom mount and group N on the 2 top engine mounts and like them, feels solid but the vibrations aren't too bad

I use the vibra tech competion mounts..... For every day I think I would get annoyed with the vibration.
But they are very good, they have no movement in them.

They are all good.... The group a pug sport that Alex is using are good but give of more vibration.
But again as a daily, and the fact the group a competion mounts are very stiff which add stress to other weak points on the chassis wouldn't use it every day.

I think Alex is using the same set up as me, how did mine and his compare to the vibratechnics?

Well didnt really feel what your was like as I was only in it round the ring and not thing I was thinking about lol
But group a compare to vibra tech ones is different I think that the group a ones use the metal buffers that want give that extra little vibration I think.
I wouldn't think there much between the mounts.
But vibra tech do look different in a good IMO.... I got mine because I got a good deal.

Thanks for all the info guys, after speaking to a few people im going to go for the fast road vibra technics as i dont wanna cause any stress on other parts too much if i use it a bit more in the future. Feel free to keep this topic open and active to help others

Dnt need the buffers work fine without.
The buffers on the group A ones give more vibration abd noise.
I like mine hold the engine very well, my engine never moves, very positive.
But remember with really stiff mounts the chassis will take the extra stress

bear in mind that a higher compression engine will induce far sharper resonance vibrations into the mounts and chassis. so on solid mounts they will tend to do more damage than engines on lower compression.
