nice find! FWD is not F1 so dont compare it to it Everything has its place and theres many reasons why FWD is so dominant in the car market.
Another little car to throw in the mix is the original mini. Obviously technology has come a long way but that car found great success amongst RWD cars.
End of the day either drivetrain can be "better". It depends what your question is rather than an open ended generalisation.

Having had the luxury of driving all platforms the scariest by far is rear engined RWD, I drove a 1991 911 turbo thinking my MR2 was a handful my god it was immense but my god I was pleased to be back in a Clio as I could relax as it was just so much easier.
I've often said I should have bought a Clio 172 over the MR2, BUT on the right day with the right conditions on the right road the MR2 is possibly one of the most rewarding cars I've ever driven, but as soon as things change a little there is no forgivingness and you just die.
AWD on the other hand is push push push its safe car will save me, till kapow it falls at a really high speed, recovering one can be a right pigs arse.
FWD is for shopping trolleys

Anybody who thinks a fwd car is better than rwd (racing wise) should not have access to this section. END/

Don't be stupid. The argument isn't fwd should never be on track. It's the fact rwd is better. Watch sexy_gt's vids he's a great driver and his saxo is fast. Give him an Elise with similar power and I bet he'd be miles faster. Fwd is easier to drive. If it understeers ease off, problem solved. Rwd isn't so easy. My vts acceleration wise is on par with my mums boxter but I've had them both round the track and the Porsche is in a whole different league.

You've clearly never driven a rwd car. Your a tool an it's like talking to a brick wall. Your wrong and have nothing more to say.

Well all depends on the driver. But thats bollocks! Plenty of rwd cars would run rings around a saxo, such as tightish tracks like cadwell!

Once i've boosted the MX5 (so it's actually a similar pace to the Saxo), i'll let Stew (sexy_gt) take it round Bedford.
Not Cadwell, there's too much stuff to hit, lolz.
