So i don't get it, did the client pay 6k or 2.5k? in the end?
Extremely overpriced whatever he paid, i know there are cost of materials and lights a front tyre but if it was 6k over 49 hours. That guy made £122 per hour not a bad days work. Even at 2.5k he would be making £50 an hour. The client had more money than sense.

The paint doesn't look flat and has orange peel effect to it.
Its a lot of money but looks good.

Yeah it looks good from how it was before but I am sure with 6k I could make it perfect with little to no orange peel at all. As above would have been better to respray the car with a high quality prep job and a nice colour sand. 6,k is just silly money.
|
Id be inclined to agree, Ive seen some work of a guy local to me; he sprays only with 2 pack and machine polishes every job to an impeccably high standard, typically taking 1500 for a same colour respray on an average size car.

Yeah 50 hours of time £122 per hour.
Materials max of £500.
How is that well priced. Why should a detail guy be paid that sort of money to clean a car. Its not exactly overally hard work just time consuming like any job but does not mean they can get paid that kind of money. They just have the right clients to get paid that kind of money.
That BMW could of been sold for 4-5k then another 6k on top could of been put to buy a better car. Why have a car detailed for more than the value of the car.
Its like getting my saxo detailed for a grand when i can sell it for a grand, the detail and perfect finish isn't going to make a huge difference in the final sale fee maybe 10% £100.
Agree with a day being spent on a car yourself or paying a detailler £150-£200 for a fairly decent car to be detailed but 6k is ott.

Srs it wasn't, even so it still doesn't mean a detailer can charge 6k ripping off rich clients. Although he can because thats what he charges. Think im in the wrong job..

I agree with this and i dont like agreeing with ginger people...especially with your facebook profile picture.
But also i believe in paying for the name......
Take machine polishers for example.....
The das6 is £80
The dodo buff daddy (the exact same machine with a label) is £100.
There are lots of guys out there with an equally as high attention to detail as Paul Dalton and would probably have done it for a 10th of the price.
Fair play to the guy though.......one detail like that a month and your sorted.
