Default Brake pad retaining clips

Hi,

Is there any where I can get the rear brake pad retaining clips from? The slider with split pin and sprung clips have worked loose and the pads are just being held in by the rear wheel.

Cheers.

Is there a better method of holding the pads in place? As that little bar that does all the work is only stopped by a split pin

Btw I've got the fitting kit on order for 0930 tomorrow

Delphi make a retro fit kit.
Its got a sprung bar that locks into both sides of the sliding bar. You get a new slider bar a locking spring bar and 2 pad retainer springs.
The kit costs 8 quid from andrew page.

I think its for the front brakes on the 1.1 ect but fits fine on the rears of vt's.

Do you have any pictures of this part? I try to keep spares in of these parts as both my cars use them on the rear brakes, but anything that is a better method would be good as frankly its a poor idea in my view

The split pin goes on the inside hole so they cant slide out...hardly flawed. 9 times out of 10 the split pins knackered when refitted.

You've got to admit the springs and sliders are a shit system of holding the pads in. Springs have a habit of popping off I find, the slider doesnt usually fall out thought as its a tight fit

Springs stop it rattling. Each end of the slider has a hole for a split pin, if you put it on inside edge its not likely to go anywhere as it cant move very far inwards. Not the best design but it works. The pins on the three stud ATE calipers were shite, i lost 3 in a week!

Hello,

new saxo driver. Just done my first service changed the oil and filters and the brake pads. On one side there was no metal part (retainer) with the pin so the mechanic removed it on the other side as well! I am kind of worried if my pads are going to fall out? Should I be?

the part is visible in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...1giHyuvs#t=324

Tnx in advance, sorry on my English.
