Emissions fail
Hopefully I've posted in correct area!
Basically I'm having trouble getting my 1999 vts through the emissions, I've changed the cat, map sensor, lambda sensor, even stuck a standard exhaust back on to try and help but still to no avail. Timing was slightly out apparently, which has been sorted. Have tried the usual trick of getting cat red hot by revving tits off it and filling full of Redex etc, still no good. Anyone got any more ideas?? Bought the car 12 months ago to prep for track and still not made it, desperate to get on! Lol.
Btw engine is completely stock I think, no bolt ons etc.

There is more than one part to an emissions test and it could fail on either part of it.

Jokes aside for a moment... What's it actually failing on? What are the readings?
Could always find another MOT station tbh... (seriously). Plenty that'll take a £10 to pass it. Not that I'm recommending that of course. Not in my position. Just... putting it out there.

It's failing as it's running too rich apparently, at about 4 times the acceptable readings, the new cat is one of these smaller baked bean can types, apparently they're shite? Is it worth trying another one?

I had major issues with my Furio on emissions 2 days to get a pass while the only other fault was worn wiper blades , I chucked on new cat ( half decent one ) from euro car parts , injector clean , fuel clean , fuel filter slight blow on zorst sorted and I took it for a run on the motor way driving it in third gear ( someone mentioned that to me ) not sure if it helps ? , but car then passed

Stuff a rag into the exhaust. Get the car nice and hot.
