I got my MOT in two weeks and am thinking of buying alloys just before. Was just wondering do you have take insurance details to your MOT to show youve declared your mods?

just had my M.O.T today, failed as the car was sitting on the bumpstops on the rear, official title, sufficient clerance between rear axle and bumpstops.
so i said to the M.O.T guy, look i have got two 2tonne jacks, a full tool kit, de-cat pipe bags of shopping and an axle stand in the boot, and asked him if i took it all out would he re-test it, as it would be about 10-20mm higher, so i took every thing out and he passed it there and then! wooohoo!

Bargain!
Mine failed on that but it was genuinely just too low lol...
They had it on 3 wheels just getting it on the ramp..
Oops lol..
Just MOT'd the Audi today though, Failed on the headlights being too low - Previous owner fitted angels, which i don't like.. Just bought some standard lights and getting a re-test tomorrow.
What a hassle!

The condition of anything that isn't part of the MOT won't cause it to fail. For example, you could hav a rear wiper with no wiper blade in, becuase the rear wiper isn't a part of the MOT it won't fail.

You need no proof of insurance or ownership for an MOT

Couple other things on this thread, can't be arsed to quote again...
The high rise (third) brake light has to work to pass, all brake lights fitted have to work.
The ABS light must come on with the ignition switched on, then go out within a reasonable time with the engine running. So taking the bulb out won't work lol

Yeah Brake lights definately have to work of they're there.
I think the Rear wiper thing has changed then, because that used to be a fail - I've noticed that on several occasions.
I think its hit and miss on where you go with some things tbh, if there's no bulb in the ABS, 9 times out of 10, on a saxo, they'll just assume it doesn't even have ABS.

Yh, most testers aren't that vidulent... It's surprising how many little things you can get away with. Mirrors for example, you need an O/S mirror but it doesn't matter if you don't have any glass in the N/S mirror. You just need the O/S one + one other mirror, centre or side.
