Over-enthusiastic moderation?
As you can see from my post count, I'm not exactly the most prolific wordsmith on here, the ties of family, 2 jobs and beer see to that! However over the last few weeks I have noticed an increasing number of threads just vanishing, including one which I had replied to. Now I'm not moaning about the fact the thread was deleted per se, however the lack of an explanation is a little galling. If the mods were to delete a thread, could the mods either leave a locked empty thread with an explanation "Thread deleted due to .. reason", or have the courtesy to pm the participants of the thread?
Thoughts, comments?
V.

Appreciate where your coming from, but:
There is a reason left when threads are deleted, it requests a reason before deleting can be carried out
however,
when locking a thread from further posting theres no reason required for that. That said theres generally a reason left by the Moderator within the thread as to why its been locked.
You may have just caught one or two which have slipped by.

As a general rule I would say it's safe to assume that when a thread is removed it is done because of a terms of use violation.
The moderators don't remove threads/posts for fun, and in most (if not all) cases action is taken because the post/thread in question exceeded the website guidelines - which are there for the benefit of the whole community.
If anyone has concerns about a thread that has been removed then just PM a moderator. We don't bite and would be more than happy to let you know the reason for the thread being removed - not very exciting reasons in most cases I can assure you.
Behind the scenes the actions of every moderator are audited and when a thread/post is deleted a reason must always be provided. These reasons are not displayed publically but they are available to the moderators in case a query arises.
It's not a lack of courtesy that stops the moderators from PMing those involved. The moderators and admins are very active keeping Saxperience running smoothly - most of this invisible to the general public. If the moderators had to PM everyone for each action they took the website would grind to a halt in no time.
Any ideas on how this could be improved then let us know.
