Apple Macbook Pro/Air
What's all the "Snow Leopard" etc operating systems all about? Do you have to pay to upgrade to the different systems and stuff?
I have NO idea about Apple really - just really want an apple laptop!
What would you recommend I get for a budget of £600, £700 and £800?
Thanks,
Dan.

I was thinking for those kinda budgets what the best I could get second hand (on ebay or something) cause there are so many different versions of different versions its quite hard to get your head round when you know very little about Apple!

Just gotta look at your needs and decide from there bru

Don't even consider the MBA. Waste of money.
For your budget I would aim for a standard MB. Avoid the plastic bodies if you can because they are prone to cracking

I wouldnt say the MBA is a waste of money, the 11inch is the size of a netbook but with the speed/power of larger laptops. Just depends on how much money your willing to spend. You could also say the MB is a waste of money as you could get a windows laptop with better specs for less money.
I would save up a little more and buy the MBP base 13 model, if i got a mac it would have to be the metal unibody. If you know any HE students you could get them to get you a discount too.

of course MBA is a waste of money. For the same price you can get a much better spec MB!

but it has a different use, to be as portable as possible without being completely useless like most netbooks.
EDIT: just to say, i dont even own a mac, MB, MBA, etc, so this isnt just me trying to justify a purchase.
I would never go for the MBA as IMO the MBP 13 is portable enough, but i can see the reason for the 11 inch MBA, the 13 not so much.
