Yeah I think I might have used that Youtube converter thing back in the day, when I used to convert films for my psp. Pretty sure it had avi and mp4..

http://download.cnet.com/YTD-Video-D...-10647340.html

"Formerly known as plain old YouTube Downloader"

No idea if it'll still have all the conversion functions though, but probably worth a try.

Use 'Super' converter it's free and supports everything. I wouldn't use anything else

Postage stamp lolled.

This program allows you to convert files without messing resolution. Just straight
Conversion. Loads of flexibility.

Videos will always take long to encode. Mkv especially.

No its called Super. I was merely laughing at the thought of you sitting down to watch a video on a 47inch with a encode the size of about 10 square pixels lol.

http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe ( download should auto start )

Try that mate. It might throw up a couple of warnigns on install from your virus scanner but its because it is loaded with encoders which often throw up false positives. It is NOT a virus. Its actually the best free piece of software you can get with regards to conversion.

Just drag your video in, chose AVI on the top left box,

Make audio 44,100hz
Should set audio to 128 minimum
2 Channel stereo

Video resolution set to - No Change. ( should be 16:9 )

Minimum video bitrate ( for sml file, decent conversion your looking at 1300 upwards )

Frames, no lower than 23.

Ermmm, that should be it. A decent AVI.

Look on youtube for more help and tutorials.

You will find this program to be trial and error. I know a fair amount about audio video file types and containers so if you need a hand giz a shout.

I use it at work aswell, NOD32 went bezerk for a second but its a false positive i'm sure. I have it on my home system and many virus scanners never batted an eyelid.

You can convert anything to anything basically. Even a video to an audio only stream.

I found that buying DVDs is a lot less hassle.

That's normal, you're doing a compressed version of a compressed version of a rip. The film will end up looking like a wall of lego bricks. I bet the sound quality is lovely too.
