cheers mate, oh i am! was my pride n joy!

but yep! deffo, the only requirment im after in my next car is for it to be cammed and remapped! then everything else i can do in time

well the car has already gone, but basically i was driving along and started to hear a grinding sound from the left hand side wheel, so drove it steady to get home but the sound started getting much worse then lost power to the other wheel too on a hill!

anyways had a look under the car and i could see that the passenger side drive shaft boot cover was twisted and dripping oil so thought itd just be the drive shaft, got it towed to a garage and the guy at the garage said it was the clutch, it obviously wasnt but yeah i found an old thread on here with the same problem which turned out to be the gear box so i thought fuck spending more money on it and got rid of it
it was a 1.1 box with no idea how many miles on it so it was probs gonna be the box anyway!

so thats basically what happend to it!
spend around a grand on it in the space of a month - 2 month just to keep it working!

after a cammed gti, can insure one with the usual exhaust, lowering mods etc for 600 quid less than my vtr!

just curious, but who you insured with if a cammed gti is cheaper than a vtr? i got a vtr but prefer the looks of a gti.

just seen this mate, but tbh im not really sure!
Im with admiral and i rang them up saying im interested in swapping my car over to a 106 gti bla bla bla the modifications are all the same, lowering, alloys, manifold, exhaust etc + it has uprated cams and i got a quote back of a good 350ish cheaper than my vtr was to insure

but i have noticed that despite the engines being the same in vts/gtis the gtis have a much lower premium! a vts is around the 3.5k mark to insure

but it isnt the yellow bodied gti, cant stretch out that far money wise
