Default Parking ticket....confused

Right, basically I sold a 106 to a dude in Scarborough around the start of this year, I stupidly let him send off the v5 and I don't think I have any record of the sale.

Just today I've received a "Notice to Owner" from Scarborough council stating they issued a PCN on 24/05/15 on this car (obviously still in my name) and I owe them £50 or £75 if I don't pay in 28 days.

What the fuck do I do? Or shall I just contact dvla and say I'm no longer the keeper, then fill out the fine stating I was not the owner of the car at the time?

I'm going to do both those today. After some facebook messaging last night I managed to contact the lad i sold it to, and got an address for the lad he sold it to, which matched the street address on the fine. So hopefully the fine won't get lumped with me...

car got sold twice? Reminds me why I don't trust anyone for posting my paperwork. Is the car even taxed?

Yeh the lad who bought it off me sold it to someone else. It was spares or repairs though. I know, I would normally send it off myself but when he collected the car it was late and he pissed about getting here, I had shit to do so I just told him to send it off himself and he was on his way!
Don't know if it's taxed, but I've put it in writing and sent the details to the dvla and Scarborough council so hopefully I don't get lumped with the fine...well either way I'm not going to be the one paying it.

I think it's safe to say I'll make sure I'm the one who sends the v5 away next time I sell a car!

Indeed, to be honest I don't trust anyone with my paperwork. Now there's an easy way to find out, put your ex reg in:

No I definitely will not let the buyer send it off next time! It's taxed and MOT'd at least!

That or worse, the possibilities of being fucked... Know of someone who trusted someone else with their V5 and the police shown at her door for petrol theft and other stuff...
