New Numberplates
Hi all,
I had a search for this, but it seems most discussions were based on whether a style of numberplate is legal or not. I'd love metal pressed plates, but can't be arsed getting pulled over.
So...
Where is a good place I can buy some standard and legal plates for my Sax? I hate having some dealers advertising on mine...
Cheers

Maybe so, but the police may still want to pull me over more often than usual with them, don't you think?

Yeah, i realised that was probably what you meant as i wrote it. But you get all the necessary paperwork with the plates to show they are legal

No you cannot.
The reflective part and the lettering must be constructed of plastic. You can have metal backing, but that's as far as it gets.

If from Dubmeister mate their not legal regardless of what the website says i have had many coppers confirm this, even though they are reflective that simply wont do. The letters are naturally bulked out more meaning the speed cameras wont capture them. He said to me " are they from dubmeister" before i even told him were i got them from, he said he'd had many cars being tricked by the "uk legal plates advert". That was from a road traffic Cop.
Dont invest in pressed plates unless you are using for show purpose. Others on here will tell you its fine but its up to you to make an educated dession weather you want a fine or not. Go to somewere like halfords which can make 3d look number plates which are legal

Nowhere online worth using then? Halfords is a bit more expensive, but then I guess I can trust the legality of their plates! The carbon pressed plates look alright from pictures.

Halfords are good at the moment for their plates. The necessary writing which they legally have to include on plates thesedays is very small and is the same colour as the plate so unless you're close up you won't see it.

So it's a legal requirement to have the manufacturers name and post code along the bottom of the numberplate as well?

No they are not legal for the following reasons:
1. Their raised charecters, they CANT be raised.
2. You need to provide documentation before any legal plates can be made, this website does not require documentation. Why?
3. YES company name MUST be on plates because if the police need to question ablout the plates they know were they were manufactured.
This website is purly for show plates ONLY
Dont go to any website and go to a local car shop to get them produced as that way your on the correct side of the law, and if fined for the price of the online plates plus the fine will total more than plates made in a shop.

If your plate looks legal, i.e plastic and correct spacing and font, you won't get questioned about it. 9 times outta 10.

there must be loads of places near you that do plates...
halfords is actually quite cheap less than £20 iirc, i paid £25 for some new ones at my local car spares shop, ebay ones will be cheaper around a tenner but strictly speaking wont be legal due to having no british standard mark, makers name and post code (some might have this but most wont) but as long as the letters are spaced properly and font is of legal style and size then the policeofficor would be a c**t to pull you
