Well hello there
Yeah im back (thread in Scots section if you want a nosey) I took loads of pics at the concert, got to love being a tall chick and being able to see over everyone. Could have done with a better camera... could be a must for Take That at Hampden next month
I had never watched ice hockey before but i love it. The first set of pics i took were awful...
Because its only reccy hockey they dont use full lighting for the games which, along with the reflections on the ice, i found it so difficult to get the white balance spot on.
Been trying to get the shots better with camera skills rather than relying on photoshop to make them better. Think i've improved a bit.
Before:
After:
Im also finding it alot easier to anticipate where the puck is going and guessing where players etc are going rather than trying to follow the puck as it just ends in a fail! lol

I watch a fair bit of ice hockey. I expect you suffer being with an older nikon iirc? iso speed having to stay lower to not have noise.
Still its good fun and fantastic that you are trying.. The lights inside sports centers etc.. really can be arses at times.
Be careful at taking a better camera to gigs, a 'pro' look camera can get you in all sorts of bother.

Most people will tbh, they wont have the focal range they need, or have a camera with enough settings, automodes on most P&S cameras can be shocking dependant on the camera brand.
It can still be an arse even in the press pit, 3 songs and then you have to be out, bad times if the lighting guys in a bad mood with the photographers lol!

Thanks guys
I have an Olympus e500 Ryan. And noise has been a pretty big problem if im honest.
I was hoping to get my hands on a new camera but due to change in personal circumstances its not really an option at the moment Possibly a new lens for the start of the new season.
My Wee Sis (W33 EMA) tried to take her camera in to a gig on monday and told her she wasnt allowed it in. Fuji something or other, but looks like a dslr but a point and shoot. I can understand why they do it though. I just take pics of everything me
Ads it reccy hockey? The Pats are just back from games at Cardiff, Telford and Milton Keynes

doing good on the stuff you'd got anyway so I wouldn't worry Olympus has a 2x crop factor I think.

Closest to me is the guildford lot or one down in medway (wedway bears @ gillingham).. Although there might be a side in wembley not 100% sure anymore.
Ive got icehockey/speedway/football/motorcross all on my lists of want to shoot now LOL!

I knew you didnt have a Canon thats all and most go for Noink
Probably a bridge camera one of the finepix shit people still get upset with them being used, Ive been told off for using my 70-200+ a 2X tc sitting right behind a load of pros at an international event.. I meerly took my jumper off to reveal my GB top and they left me alone LOL!
If you are looking at new bodies do it before you spend lots on lenses for a system you might go away from.
