'Rug doctor'
My folks are renting a rugdoctor for their house.
http://www.rugdoctor.co.uk/
this is it for those who dont know.
I was wondering seeing as its available, have any of you used it for your car carpets? It says on their site that it can be used in cars but was wondering if anyone had any experiences.
Last thing i'd want is for it to somehow ruin the carpet lol

Yup use it with 1001 carpet cleaner. I cleaned every thing in my car with it when i first got it. The water is gross after, The car needs a couple of days to dry out fully though.

I rented one for the purpose of doing the interior. Comes with a converter for handheld use.
Genuinely worked wonders. The amount of crap it brings out is unreal, the water at the end of doing it was filthy, and this was from an interior that was relatively well maintained.

yeah it will fluff the pile up.
1001 smells nice contains no bleach and it has enzymes so kills any bacteria in the seats and carpets so it smells nice for longer also a couple of drops of apc will work wonders too.

I simply removed the carpet from my 205 and washed it outside the car. If doing in situ I would be putting a de-humidifier in the car to dry it off quickly.

We rent them out at Homebase - don't forget you need a form of I.D AND a household bill of some sort to rent them out!

This thread had so much potential, and then I see it's about an actual rug cleaner...
Anyway, results look good, and for £22 for a weekends use. I can use it in the house as well.

I did the house, car, van, mates front seats and so on lol
Its good on the carpet as they seem to get that really ground in sandy dirt out that takes ages with a hoover and never quite goes away.
My red carpet was like a brown colour.
As for drying out, i left the front seats in the house over night, the rest took maybe a day or so. The hoover does suck 90% or so up, if your soaking it all as your hoovering, back off on the trigger and just hoover it for a bit.

You get the best results with black/grey carpets as they always look like new after! The red shows every single mark, stain, grain of sand and whatever else.
keep posted on how you get on!

I did mine at the end of april, and it's still smelling bloody good. It's a subtle smell but it's nice.
Even if your carpets are grey, it still makes a cleaner and nicer car.
