Given up with the speaker pods.. So I am after a set of sub £40 components.
I have been looking at these.
JBL GTO-506CE

Its all just numbers to me when I look at speakers.
Are the JBLs that good? Or shall I opt for Alpine as I am a bit more bias towards them...

I think I might go for the 507s, but running them off the HU I have been told all will sound shite.

comps will allways be better than coaxials mate
depends if your after amazing sound or just anything better than standard though..
ive had coax and theyre awful (allthough i only paid £18) so for that money i think theyre value for the cash as they went loud before distortion

Well, I have no speakers in the front at the minute. And I am not fitting loads of ICE as itis too heavy. I just want music. The most bass as possible, don't want Comps that sound too tinny... Just want some decent sounding music really.

comps if you want a little bit of mid bass.. the jbl gto 507 from egay is the best ones for the price
most sub £40 coax will distort easily on midbass

i had the 507's in my old car ran off the headunit for over a year and they sounded fine, only distorted at high volumes and a million times better than the standard crap.
they were much better when i amped them up though

ragardless of what you run them off.. comps will allways be better (in the same price range)
3 reasons:
1. sound staging is improved with the tweeter higher up and closer to your ear
2. seperate woofer and tweeter means the sounds done "clash" into each other as much,
3. much less distortion on midbass from comps

o right so for the same price(ive got about £40 to spend) i should just get comps. Cos someone told me if i wasnt going to be amping them then i would get more out of coaxials by just running them off the hu. but if thats not the case i will get comps instead
