photo section with progress threads
i think now its getting to the point its going to take a good hour to catch up on somebody's progress thread, now on the astra owners club they have a progress thread section where only the person starting the thread can post in it , making it a good read without scrolling through 30 pages to see somebody has painted there rocker cover, i think it would be a good idea to set some sort of system like this up, and use the photo section to get opinions on mods or pictures of your new car ect, what do other people think about this ?

People like comments on the thread, people could just update their first post with links to the post with new updates, but most don't so it's a mission to read

The Premium Blogs feature was also for this sort of thing.
Pay for premium and you will get be able to have one... everyone can see them ( I think ) just cant use/post on them if your not a prem!

There is something like this on Bit-Tech Forums (Computer) whereby the reader can only read then Authors posts.

yer i think this is a good idea. i hate it when threads are 100+ pages, makes it hard to go through the actual progress

yeahh wud be good, obviously still have the current system as well...so people can comment on others cars.
A better system wud be if the forum rules were to just keep modifying the first post as you update....

garage and progress blogs are all good but there away from the main forum base, having a garage on the main forum would be a better idea

Or how about this, they have it on UKfn.
Normal progress threads such as on here (on their however its separated into fiesta prog threads and members other car progress threads) Then another section which is members Project cars, these are like the big ones where major stuff happens... car has to be moved their by a mod and theres none of this "bought a new oil cap today..." "Cleaned my car witht eh two bucket method today..." shit
Go on you know you want too

Bad isnt it... love flicking through 20 pages when the title says UPDATE.. and the update is they have hoovered the boot..
Its like noting that you have had new tyres.. not really progress

It is frustrating I'll agree. I think it would be a good idea, but if people weren't allowed to post "nice car mate" in every progress thread 3 times a week no-one would have a very good post count

Using a forum to do this is do-able, but using the Blog tool to do it like I intended is better, as that way the author can decide whether they want to receive comments or not AND all author posts are kept together (at the top), meaning you dont need to wade through mases of pages of comments.
I'll check back in this thread later to see if there;s any more 'real' progress

Are non premium members able to view blogs? If they can they i don't know what they're complaining about. But if they cant maybe allow them to only view, not comment or make their own blogs?

Premium's can create, view and post comments.
Non-premiums can view and comment if the author allows them access to.
