Default SLR beginner

Reeeealy getting interested into Photgraphy, well all ways have been.

At the moment, i've got a 10megapixel Digi Camera...it's ok... But that's it ok

I wan't a better quality Picture.... Was looking into SLR digital camera's.... Is this a good idea for beginners?

What can you recommend? Also Best SLR for it's money... with out going over board.

Thanks

it is a low budget when you factor in that a good couple of lenses ontop can easily see you over a grand in no time, and thats before you buy top of the range

Have a gander at the gear tonto has for sale, I'm sure he would come to some sort of arrangement.

As above.

I bought a second hand D40x body, and a brand new kit lens. Cost me about £260 all in all and so far I'm finding it a great camera to use and learn with.
