Default How To Guide - HID Lights

This is a guide on how to fit HID Lights to your car. Obviously each kit may be slightly different and different peopl do things different ways, hence the word guide. I cannot be held responsible for peoples mistakes when follwing this guide.

you will need the following

HID Kit which will include everything you need to fit the lights
Rachet
13mm Socket
10mm Socket
Stanley Knife
Cable ties
Insulation tape

Id already opened my kit before deciding to make the guide so this is what was left in the box when i took the picture

Bulbs with protective cup

First thing is to securly mount the ballasts somewhere out of the way. the passenger side one was fixed with cable ties on the right hand side of the raditator

The drivers side one was secured to the ECU tray

as you can see with the cover back on you cant tell its there

Time to get some power to the wiring now, there was an obvious red wire with mine that needed connecting to some power supply. this could be connected straight to the battery but i did mine to the fuse box the same as all my other wires. please make sure you know where the eath wire is and that its not touching anything as once you wire the red wire up there will be power running through the wires
pull the top off and undo the nut (10mm)

put your wire on to the threads and then put the nut back on

you cant over tighten this so keep going until you get bored

you now need to fix the earth wire somewhere, i choose to do it to the strut top for now but i may move it at a later date

you need a 13mm socket to get the nut off

i used this as an oportunity to change my nuts to shiney ones

i then pushed the wires down the side of the battery so they didnt get caught in any moving parts

next take out your old bulb, pull the rubber grommet off

push the metal clip to one side

seperate your bulb from the wiring and put the rubber grommet to one side you will need this later

plug the passenger side headlight plug into the one that it needs to be connected to in the wiring harness you go with your kit

i insulated mine

the drivers side is not needed, so get some tape wrapped round it until MOT time

time to plug the wiring harness into the ballasts now. you need to make sure that you plug them in the right way round, on my kit the plugs fitted in both ways (hard to explain but you will see when fitting)

you need to make sure that the wire that goes from one side of the bay to the other is out of the way, i cable tied mine to the underneath of the slam pannel

earth the other side, there is an earth point next to the washer bottle filler neck, iirc this is a 10mm bolt

the gloves now came out and so did the bulbs

take the protective cap off once you are ready to fit the bulb to the headlight

onnce fitted pull the wires through the clip

and then through the original rubber grommet

then refit the rubber grommet

plug the bulb into the wires from the ballast

tidy wires away, lol

Job done, i also had some HID wannabe side lights i fitted aswell

if ive missed anything out them please PM me and i'll add it to the guide
