.
Over a whole second saved on the 1/4 mile
Almost 2 seconds saved on 0-60
And the MPG increase too

you have just learnt to drive better if you saved 2secs on 0-60 --no way any aero devices could make that much difference on any car and if you saved 2 secs on 0-60 --how come you have then lost 1sec over the rest of the1/4 mile run?

your data does not make sense

the only way to confirm it would be to run a data logger so you can check shift points, reaction time etc etc.
It was an automatic so driver input is minimal though. If you are matching your launch revs, 2 seconds is a lot to gain from simply pressing the accelerator harder or softer at the start. The car should in theory change gear at exactly the same point regarding revs and speed.
The cars lost 230kg roughly so thats a fair amount- probably made the biggest difference. If you are solely testing aero you have to use the same base car or the results are useless.

Their figures not mine! Their results aint going to be the same every time they run the same test but it obviously shows there is an improvement after they have done the weight saving etc.

Just a bit of a n00b question here but. If flat floors etc only work on cars of 2" or lower, are the ones on Ferraris and poker's etc only for show? If so, why would a manufacturer go to the trouble and expense of making them if they don't offer any benefit?

Like I say, this is a question from someone that knows nothing about aero, just an observation I made while reading this.

If its to create downforce then the car needs to be low. Does not mean it cannot help with lowering the drag.

Those cars are designed with aero that supposed to work before they leave the factory, not like our little town cars that a brick shaped but we insist on making them faster

Not only that but as kam have said even if it has no handeling effect itll reduce drag in a straight line

very specific car for a purpose
I doubt he ever gets to 100mph ,so those large spoilers are meant to create more grip --drag will also be a lot more ,but not important at his sort of speeds
its all about front end grip
downforce +drag are exact opposites to each other --you must create more drag to make downforce
low ride height makes a vacumn under car if done right ,so it does lower parasitic drag and in effect create downforce ,best you can hope for with a tin top is to lower the drag by being flat floor ,but at speeds liely to be encountered its so small its hard to measure and if car lifts going over a kerb or hump then its lost anyway
thats why f1 cars have multiple aero foils -some work at low speed others at high speed and the low speed ones will stall at higher speeds so do not cerate too much drag ------its very complicated
the economy run boys tape all the door gaps ,grilles and window seams -to get an effect and remove mirrors ,if allowed .but they don,t go fast anyway

Just some impartial data for anyone that is interested.
In regards to the honda civic BTCC car in the MIRA wind tunnel. The exact data is confidential, but some assumptions can be made.
The standard car has a CD of 0.36. pretty average for a road car.
It is assumed that the race car would be somewhere near this figure with aero work, possibly slightly higher.
The -CL (downforce) after doing the maths from the percentage changes over the years (only data provided) comes out at around 774N (78.9 kg).
That is pretty impressive at 0.36 CD for a stubby little hatchback.
Oh, and this is at 100mph test.
And the total car weight is 1150kg.
