the led is actually in the needle bits, you can take the needle off but cant get into the box that the led is in, i think there tamper proof for some gay reason

will everybody please stop taking the steering wheel off first.
you don't need to do this, the dials come out fine with the steering wheel on!
i have a mk2 vts.

Nah i bet ya jus put the wheel back on after ya took the dials out, jus to annoy us that removed it! lol

you do have to take the steering wheel off sometimes mate, i told people to drop the coloumn down to get to the 2 torx screws as the bottom of the surround, and got people saying it didnt work and they had to take the wheel off, anyway my wheel is a snap off one so comes off in seconds
also when your taking them out it sometimes scrapes on the coloumn and scratches the front
did your car have 2 screws on the bottom as they may have been taken out

yes i took the screws out, once they were all out i turned the wheel a bit one way pulled the clocks half out and then turned the wheel the other way and voila (and no scratches ).

hmmmm your car must be just special then, because my wheel had to be taken off to get to the screws the first time i did it, ive now left the ones off the bottom of the surround so makes it easier in future
