Could do with a bit of help please with new surround sound?

I went and bought a 5.1 surround sound from argos just for my xbox really. I've got it set up but i can't run it through HDMI. I use HDMI from my xbox to my HDTV but i have to plug the AV cable in aswel, for the surround sound to plug into the xbox. So i plug the AV cable in the xbox (with the HDMI cable still plugged in) lead that to my subwoofer (the red and white cable), i turn on the xbox and the sound is great but theres no picture. The AV cable is overwriting the HDMI so all i get is a blue screen, if i take the AV cable out then the HDMI picture comes up, i plug the AV cable back in, then a blue screen again saying no signal. I can plug the AV cable into the back of the TV using the Scart lead, and just have the yellow cable in the scart and the red and white plugs in the subwoofer, but the picture is awful, its all distorted. Is there anyway i can plug the Xbox into the subwoofer and still use the HDMI cable for the best picture quality?

If ur TV has audio outs just go with phono leads (red and white) from them into the surround sound and use the hdmi from the xbox to TV for HD Visuals

Hi mate,

Yes, you want to do what this guy says. You want the phono outputs (red and white) on the back of your TV to lead to the red and white inputs on your subwoofer. However, the chances are your TV will only have phono INPUTs and not outputs. If this is the case, buy one of these:

You need to plug this into the headphone socket on your tele, and then the red and white bits go into the subwoofer.
