the thing is they are HD "READY" not HD, which means they are worse then your average tele in certain aspects, if you were to upgrade it to HD it still would be crap as it would be composite which is the lowest quality of HD there is.
Save a lot mroe money and get a HDMI set, preferably samsung or pioneer, you wont be dissapointed and you will get you moneys worth

You've lost me there.
Both TVs have HDMI inputs so what do you mean by a HDMI TV?

By the way, it's not correct to say ''it'll be crap''.
My girlfriend's dad has this Sony set and the tele is just connected to a standard Sky box via scart - picture is fine, even tho not HD. If he gets Sky HD and connects it to his tele via HDMI the picture will be fantastic.

i say its crap because i can tell the difference in quality, most HD ready sets cant cope with HD as they do not have enough pixels to produce a good enough image. so for a normal person they wouldnt notice much but as i have worked with them, i have different views, but if your happy with it then get it

WTF?
Any HD ready set can 'cope' with HD that's why it's called HD ready.
If you're comparing it to a 1080 ready set why don't you just say that. That's bound to be better.

Samsung I'd say, I think they have a high contrast rate or somthing which gives a much better picture HD or not

Well if it's only got 1 you can get a switcher box for about £30 to connect other HD devices

I'd wait a little while longer till the true HD (1080p) sets become standard and cheaper. It's a world of difference from 720i or p. The future looks like HDdvd or blueray and both will have the 1080p option. Why buy one now but regret it down the line?
I'm rather fussy when it comes to TV and DVDs so this is all IMHO.
