problems installing Oblivion
Hi guys, i know this should be in the IT section, but its always dead and i need a quick answer what to do.
Received oblivion IV elder scrolls this morning, tried installing it, when it gets to data5.cab it comes up error cyclic redunduncy check. I've had this problem before installing FEAR, which was data2.cab I just downloaded the file and then it worked fine, but i can't seem to find data5.cab to download it. Has anybody got any ideas please? I've looked on google, and most people say to clean the disc it may be dirty, which i have or that its a damaged cd.

"Cyclic redunduncy check" (CRC) errors is bascially a checksum mismatch.
Sounds like the media is nackered. Send it back and get a new one.
Clean the lazor in your cd drive with a cd head cleaner
or try installing on another machine to test if its the media or your CD/DVD drive

What the above said. If you are getting it often then there is a chance that either the drive is faulty/dirty or the media you are playing it from is rubbish.
