Excel
Right well basically I have to produce a database model using Excel (cant use any other programs to do this) to create a Car Insurance Premium Quote for my A level coursework.
On the page where the user has to select the car manufacturer and model etc. Is there a way of creating many nested IF's inside each other and using VLOOKUPS etc? I thought the maximum was 7 but I some how need to create a drop down list to choose. One for the manufacture then one for the car model. The car model has to then change according to which manufacture you select ie. a dynamic VLOOKUP.
Is there a way of doing this?
Rep will be given as always
Ta

do you mean, each cell having an if statement while using a VLOOK up table?

hmmmmm........basically all I want is a selection of car manufacturers in one combo box and then car models in another one. but the car models need to change when a different manufacturer is selected. Basically I'm after the same thing as the auto-trader selection and parkers guide etc. Is it possible?
I will look at it again tomorrow night. rep will be given tomorrow

Not sure if this can be adapted, maybe via a bit of scripting, macros etc..

i dont think you can do this, although its on a website this is set up via java scripting, so im not overly sure if it can be done on Excel, if you can it wont be an easy task, is there no other way you can do this to meet the criteria, or are you just trying to be a flash bastard

Erm.....well, there is probably another way of getting around it. And yea....I am trying to be flash - aiming to make it as proffesional as possible. I'll have to check with my teacher if I can do it or not . I could just enter a few 'fictional' number plates into a database and give a demo on how it would find your number plate in real life. Thats just a simple thing to do . Hmm i'll see what I can do
