Default help needed -video ipod

i apologise first if this is in wrong section,

wondering if anyone can help, im trying to connect my video ipod to play video's through my stereo, (yes stereo is compatable) but ive followed all the in structions i can find on net, ive got all the proper apple cable it says i need and it still doesnt work -doesnt even work through my tv in house

really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas

not a usb no - theyve both got auxiliry ports

I'm pretty sure aux is for music and wont work for video?

Or im jus stupid and wrong

ok im really thick at things like this - ive got one o them apple cables that has a red, white and yellow end and then a 3.5mm headphone jack at the other like apple and the posts on the net i found say i need

im confused what cable or port do i need to have

you need one of these if you dont have the phono imputs on your tv:

i have those connections already on the back of my tv and car stereo but still it doesnt work, i even got a (s-video out) connector for the back of my doc which has a yellow end and tried ot connect that aswell and that doesnt work.

i just cant understand why it doesnt work

have you set the ipod to tv out in the video settings dani? Choose Videos...Video Settings. Select either ask or tv out= yes depending on your preference.
Ask : The ipod prompts you when you play a video file
Yes : the ipod sends the signal to the tv
No: The video is only played back on the ipod

edit: and select PAL not NTSC

Daft question but have you selected av on your tv? Cycle through the av inputs depending on tvs make

my suggestion also. i know most TV's change to AV automatically however ive found if the signal from the input device is too weak it doesnt flick over.

i think i might have sussed it - basically ive read on internet that newer ipods of a certain version canno tplay video through any cable plugged in the headphone jack - it meeds the dock (which ive got) and the av cable (which ive got ) and an s-video adaptor which has a yellow av connector on the other end, i getting an adaptor tomorrow so ill let ya know if it works. thanks for your input anyway tho
