New car thread £5.5k budget
Hi all looks like next week i will have £5.5k to spend on a car not a great deal of money and from what ive seen it doesnt buy you a lot if you're looking for a newish, quick car with decent miles on it however there are some gems out there going quite cheap if you're quick.
Mainly been focusing my search on golf gti, leon fr, a4, ocatavia vrs all with the 2.0T FSI 200 ps engine or the 170ps diesel engine, also open to focus st's, corsa/astra vxr's etc
none of which are particularly original choices but this isnt going to be my pride a joy just something fairly quick to use as a daily
doing about 1000 miles a month, dont want something not much older than a 2007 plate but willing to go to 2005 if its low mileage ideally want mileage around 50,000 up to around 75,000
Any one no of or have any of these cars for sale or seen any around?
also i am open to other choices, is there something that ive missed?
my brother wants me to get the 2.4 diesel alpha 159 which is a very nice looking car but not sure if i want it or not, however it would be less boring/more original than the rest of my choices

plenty of corsa VXR's out there under 5.5k at the moment.. Infact, you shouldn't struggle with any of them really.. So if a 2003 car with 55k came up, you would turn it down for its age?

E90 is a good shout, for the age that kind of money will get you I'd make sure it's had a dual mass flywheel and a clutch though!

with an older age, most of the cars i would be looking at would then be the older shape, which no isnt waht i would want. i would go for an older car if it meant it was still the shape
for example i want a mk5 golf or mk2 leon and if i went for a 2003 then they would both be the older model so yes i would rule it out, a 2003 golf/leon would have a 1.8t engine not a 2.0 tfsi engine
yes i am willing to go older for a good example but not too old its no longer the car i wanted in the first place, even a 2005 is getting on to being 9 years old, so ideally no i dont want to go much older if i can help it
