I did find a little bit of rust creeping through from the center of the drivers rear arch! gah!

Thanks to tardis the horrid glue on the inside of the arches is gone, yey!



Passenger airbag, airbag module, wiring & random nuts and bolts out, another 4.9kg, and a nifty zip tied window switch setup!

Rear wiper, motor & rear seat clasps and whatnot, bye bye!

I'm now at the point where other than the electric window motors & glass, which I need until I get my polycarb ones, I have pretty much nothing left to strip!

The stereo, speakers etc are gone, all trim apart from the A pillars etc, it's a bit loud inside!

Well I have seats and whatnot in, just need to get the pics on the thread.

cage, polycarb windows, possible 266 - 283mm brakes, toyo R1Rs, FRP bonnet & tailgate, some sort of gearbox.......................oh and FRP doors

hahahah, tell me about this deadening! is it that fluffy jazz?

And the order of photos is a bit mixed so the orange seat / airbag wiring is gone

the wires you can see through the airbag hole scare me!

Arent the switches an arse to operate there? Ive done pretty much the same with my interior though - its good fun when you dont care if it breaks!

Haha, its fun stripping saxos.

The wires, you've removed the speakers, so you dont need any of the wiring for them. Also removed you've removed the back interior light, you dont need wiring for them.

If i was you i'd buy an interior loom, identicle to the one already in, and have a play about with it, stripping down any wires you dont need and removing them.. Leaving you with a very basic loom that just has the main wires you need for actually driving your car.

If you remove your dashboard you'll see all the sound deadening. It weighs loads. Once you've removed that it will be loud inside

You could also do with a dashboard-diet, trim any pieces of plastic away from behind it that aren't actually needed You could rid of the glove box. You dont need the plastic trim around the interior light, you could remove that and the light. If you want to still keep the interior light and sunroof winder, you can take the trim off around it and just have the light and the winder there.

Underneath the car there are heatshields around the exhaust that could remove. Also in the sideskirts, if you put you're hand up behind them you'll notice they collect alot of dirt/soil. Same with in the arches, especially the drivers side front arch. When stripping a saxo last month i filled a box full of dirt, must of weighed about 10kg lol.

Then theres things like the scuttlepanel plastics, the bonnet sound deadening, ecu cover, rear window wiper and motor and wiring, heater matrix, spare wheel and cage, etc

Items to look into: Polycarb windows, lightweight exhaust, lightweight alloys (unsprung weight), fibreglass/cf panels, smaller fuel tank, lightweight battery etc.

Might be worth relocating some of your items to the boot, such as the battery and washer bottle, just to try and balance your corner weights out.

Hope i've given you some ideas

I did the arches at the weekend, so much dirt!!!

battery relocation sounds like a plan & a smaller battery methinks

I did the rear wiper already, and to save on weight, did I use a heavy rubber bung for the hole in the rear screen?!?!?! HELLS NO!

Paul, do you think running the existing washer bottle relocated to the rear with a jazzy bracket is a good idea? or are there any aftermarket ones you know of?

all I could find is a guy that makes bespoke alu ones for TVR's!!!!

oh and I may have just shaved another 18.4kg off by binning the VTS alloys and swithching to C5 steelies

Or just use a plastic box and put the standard bottle inside that? With lid on it will look alright

I used a solvent called Tardis mate, you use it to remove tar spots when you detail your car.

I wet the left over fluff and left it for a minute or two then rubbed it off with a cloth, I also almost ruined my lungs so watch out!

It's good for the tape residue on the front doors if you take your doorcards off!

I think you can get it on ebay cheap, if you get stuck give me a shout as I bought 5L!!!
