Exhaust back box. Whats wrong with a cheap universal?
Well basically mine has a few holes (Where the pipes connect to the box itself is ripped) and is full of bits of rust and my old (now replaced) cat. Sounds amazing rattling away like a maraca .
Looking at a new one, and seen a load of 'universal 4 inch tail pipes' for under 30 quid. Im not that much of a chav but im also not realy that bothered (Cant see an expensive back box making any difference to me in the slightest...system maybe but not back box).
So im wondering, why shouldnt i get one or which should i get in order for it to sit right? As 'universal' sounds far too good to be true.

It's cheap and it's universal. That's what's wrong with it lol. Poor quality materials, and won't fit your recess very well.

Hmm never really thought off materials i suppose, but metal is metal...Im sure there are some 'universal' exhausts that will fit in perfectly/with minor adjustment

if you get it welded to wear you want it then it should fit fine but its the back box that makes the sound and note of the engine and will most likely sound shit

There's nothing wrong with it. From experience they actually sound quite good, only major downside is the fitting is a custom jobbie

Just buy this instead
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Direct fit and stainless steel so wont rust away. Plus its only 3" and wont sound OTT like huge universal ones do, as they usually have no innards.

Should just wait and buy a propper saxo backbox mate, will make all the difference, and you'll be happy with it, and not annoyed a few months down the line when the noise is driving you mad

i had a universal one on my old quiksilver and the problem i had with that (apart from it sounding poo!) is that it was quite a bit heavier than a standard or good quality lightweight exhaust system so ended up falling off!

well for the price your paying i cant see the material being brilliant and as for it being universal alot of them need reducer pipes a requires welding and adjusting to fit as i found out haha, i didnt get the angle right on mine when i welded it and it didnt sit right but i suppose if your willing to do the work to fit it ok, but i would recommend spending more and getting a good quality exhaust such as piper or so on, stainless all the way for me hope this helped

they may be cheap, but the money you save will get spent on fitting it because the centre will need cutting, it will need brackets welded on, more pipes adding to connect the 2. then when you eventually want to replace it you'll have to replace the butchered centre section as well.
get one designed to fit a saxo and it can be fitted in 5 minutes with no mods.

Bump and a half it gives a better seal mate. Just put some in the inside of the clamp before you tighten it down.

If you dont get one specifically for a Saxo, it'll come out at an angle. It'll point upwards and away from the car...
