iPhone OS Software v3.0 - Saxperience

Tonight Apple are revealing news of the new software update for the iPhone.

There will no doubt be hundreds of links with info, etc.

Hopefully they will incorporate some of the much-missed applications into the stock software. Who knows?!

Hopefully, the OS can then be broke so I can stop pulling my hair out and unlock my phone. lmao.

Anyone have any ideas of what may be included in the software update?

sounds interesting. simo, you can always downgrade your firmware (and, more specifically, your bootstraper) then you can unlock it.

I think iclarified will have a tutorial on it.

So not details about what is being released... wonder what dev team have to say...

oh and copy and paste-aaaa without a doubt.

google map update to give driving distances in Miles for the UK.

maybe even themes (like winterboard)

i cant see them doing themes or at least letting people develop themes

Copy and paste, MMS, video and proper bluetooth would be very welcome!!

Simo have you had a look at teh quickpwn tool it lets you select the bootloader as pervious versions....

Might be worth a look and cant do anymore harm? Plus it wont be long til they break this latest boot as well

theres no way to change the base band once its been upgraded to the latest one we spent about 6 hours trying to find away to do it

unless any of you guys have any ideas?

Ive read every web page about it and there is currently no way the latest 2.2.1 firmware WITH the 02.30.03 base band can be software cracked. Im trying a piggyback sim tonight, but think its not gonna work consistently, if at all.

I think Ive resigned to the fact im moving to O2. lmao.

The iphone v3.0 update seems interesting - some useful updates (things that should have already been included!) Seems like Apple are really gearing up for the iphone to be integrated into all sorts of other devices.

new software will have o be cracked again.

Bit of a bummer the band base cant be changed back. I wouldnt give it more than a few weeks til its cracked though...

The new band base came out in January Scott. Seems there is no word about cracking it at all and people are expecting dev to wait until the launch of OS 3.0 in June/July, before bothering to crack... ie, if they crack it now, Ap will simply patch it for the June/July update anyway.

Ho-hum...

no if you upgrade to the new software it will lock your phone and then have to wait for dev team to crack that software

Jailbreak can be done on any firmware

Even when the phone is unlocked dependant on baseband, it is still touch and go tbf. For what it's worth i didn't bother with thee olde take sim out, airplane mode, etc as it just became annoying having to do it everytime.

Can't wait v3.0 though, look's like there are some good features coming our way and i bet there are more but they aren't going to say yet.

Apple now have a page about the new update on their site, over 100 new features. But they've got a good 4 just here:

Search your iPhone
Cut, copy, and paste
Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS
Read and compose email and text messages in landscape

Edit: Arrives this summer, its sunny outside, that mean soon..

Normally they are a few weeks but all indications do seem to be as simo said above, they are focusing on 3.0 which they have already said they have jailbroken. So whether they will even bother cracking this new base band looks unlikely as its only been released as a temporary measure to stop yellowsn0w
