personally i would stay away from close up filters as the more you add the worse the quality gets,
you could get a telephoto lens with a macro function as they tend to be cheaper and more usefull than just a macro lens, i had a sigma f3.5 - 5.6 28-135mm apo with macro function and that was a good walk about lens with a decent macro setting. i also have a 70 - 300mm tamron lens with macro lens but its not quite as good at the macro stuff

If you are serious about macro photography, invest in a dedicated macro lens. I must admit I've still not got to grips with the dSLR revolution, being more of a film and slide man myself, but best results will be obtained by using the best tools for the job. Any lens trying to be both a macro and telephoto lens will have compromises made, if you get serious, these compromises may be insurmountable.

Thanks but at the moment i am not that serious, just want something with a zoom and macro, and this seems to do the job. Just thinking about what the import tax would be on it. Had a search on google but cant find much info. H&MR just confuses me.

Import tax is not payable if the package is described as a "gift"
