Didn't get much more done due to the torrential downpour we've had today. I REALLY hope the weather peeps have got it right for tomorrow and it's dry.

Got the Exhaust off and separated into it's 2 part centre section and back box. Just need someone to buy my VTR manifold or swap it for a VTS one and i'll have a straight through system then.

So, tomorrow will be:
Remove heat shields, old handbrake and cables.
Drain brake system,
Remove brake lines,
Remove ABS pump,
Replace M/C,
Replace brake lines,
Replace front calipers,
Bleed in new brake fluid,
Fit harness bolts,

Think that should do me. If I get that lot done I'll be well happy.

All thats left to do then is, refit exhaust, fit seat and harness, refit windscreen wipers etc, Give it a bloody good clean out, wash and if I have anywhere near enough time, a quick once over with the machine polisher!

WELL....

Slow start BUT i've managed to get the calipers off, ABS system AND wiring out, Brake lines off, heat shields off. I've then got the VTR master cylinder, front and rear brake lines on and connected to M/C and the VTR handbrake and cables are fitted.

Been a bit busy! I also took off the wing mirrors before I knocked them off! hehehe.

Quick brew then back to it for a few more hours. I want to get the rear beam dropped and the rear lines all fitted with the braided sections fitted. If I can get that done tonight i'll be happy.

Tomorrow then will be changing the passenger side lower strut for one with a decent wheel bearing, tidying up the bends in the brake lines, Refit the rear beam and connect brake lines and hand brake cables, fit front callipers, bleed system, Fit seat and harness.

Fingers crossed then through the week all i need to do is refit the front end, exhaust, wheels... Give it a quick brake test in the back lanes... after checking that they ARE private roads so I don't get busted with no paperwork for the car lol.

Got quite a bit done today which isn't bad considering I had a bit of a hangover this morning!!

Managed to get the brake lines sat where they're meant to go. This meant undoing the brace bars that go from the bulkhead to the front wishbone areas. it's only 4 bolts but they were right bastards to get to and to remove!

With the brake lines sat correctly, I managed to get the beam sat back under the car and figured out where everything needed to go. I've had to cut the end off one of the pipes that go into the bias valve so I need to borrow a pipe flaring tool to sort that, then the bias valve can be connected up and the beam fitted back in place.

I also tried to fit the little quickshift gizmo but it seems that the ball joint is slightly too large to go into it so that might need some modifying before trying to fit again.

Refitted the battery and tray so that's all nice and secure again and refitted the BMC and piping.

Found out that I have a matching strut for the drivers side so that the passenger side bearing won't be wobbly anymore and I'll have matching hubs and bearing faces. I don't think their different but i'll soon find out when I get around to swapping them over. I got the spring compressed but can't get the collar off so a bit of WD-40 and leave it over night then tomorrow i'll attack it with the blowtorch and a big hammer!

I got the seat fitted roughly so I can figure out where the left side harness mounting bolt needs to go. Got it all marked up and ready then found my battery was flat on the drill so that can get done tomorrow as well.

Also, I managed to spend 20 minutes rubbing the stickers on the boot lid off. they must have been used to fix a number plate to it at some point but once again the AutoGlym Intense bug and tar remover worked it's magic and now they are no more (and I've got a clean bit of car!!)

So, next bits on the list are:

Brake pipe flaring tool,
Connect last brake pipe,
Fit rear beam,
Swap lower strut on passenger side,
Fit front calipers,
Tighten ARB and Front wishbone bolts,
Drill 2 holes for harness mounts,
Fit exhaust,
Fit wheels.

The list is getting shorter!!

I think

Once it's all done, I might even treat it to a nice wash and a bit of a polish! We'll see what I get done tomorrow!

Got the brake pipe sorted so I now have some plumbed in rear brakes! Just need this sodding rain to go away for an afternoon and I'll get the rest finished off!

Rear beam needs to go on,
Front passenger lower strut needs swapping,
Front callipers need fitting,
fluid needs putting in,
Harness mount needs drilling,
Exhaust back on,
Wheels on...

Not much, just too much when it's pissing down!

Beam is on, brakes are all connected up. Mates on his way round to help me get the new fluid into the brake lines and the drivers seat is fully fitted.

Quick brew then I need to fit the harness eyelets, Fit the exhaust, Put the windscreen wipers on and start to clear out all the excess stuff that I don't need in there.

When my mate turns up, we'll get some brake fluid pushed in and get the passenger side driveshaft nut cracked off then I can get the strut off and have the new wheel bearing fitted asap.

Back to it then

OH, I guess I'd best get some photos up too

Dude, it's a fucking state!! Needs the "Aucott" treatment!! I'll try and give it a wash a clean up before FCS but it'll still be nothing compared to the VTR or yours though.

Heres a question for you Alan, when I start sorting the car out it will need new pads and disks BUT how do people bed the brakes in before a trackday (track only cars??) other than a 2am run around an industrial estate??

Keep up the work and im sure it will be ready

That's a fair point, maybe do it on track when you're out alone?

I just drove them normally on the road for a bit sam just to really get the first mm of pad worn in and the surface of the disc scrubbed in a bit. I don't know if there's a "proper" way to bed in brakes but as long as you don't fit them and then hit the track they should be okay.

I think problems arise because you heat the pad and disc too quick and the pads glazes which makes it useless. If you can't get to bed them in properly before the trackday, just do a few slow laps to scrub them in I guess.

Well, the weathers good today so I'll get some nice new photos before I start doing anything and hopefully, I will end today with the car back on the floor and ready for a few little bits of tidying up and then waiting for the trailer. Might even get chance to get the pressure washer on the go!!

Going well so far! Got the passenger side strut to sort then it's wheels on, test brakes and wash the sodding thing!!! actually, I might just get a start on washing it now and try the strut tomorrow.

Plenty of pics today as well, They'll be posted a bit later on.

certain pads need no bedding in at all just fit and go
otherwise its a case of do a few road miles before and start out gently on the brakes slowly working your way up

or do a session on track at a slower pace (just let people pass) and again build gradually on your braking

my rc5+ dont need bedding at all
