Default mk2 car with mk1 engine plan?

right so i have got this mk2 saxo shell sitting in my garage and las night i was thinking of making a good go at fully rebuilding it.

so i have the shell but theres no engine and gearbox but the 3 plug loom and ecu is there, can i fit a mk1 vtr engine in this if i change the sensors to the 3 plug ones as i want to run a s1 rallye inlet which i also have in my garage?

so the question is will a mk 1 engine run of my 3 plug loom and ecu if i change the sensors on the engine?

trying to make a fun little track car for lyden and brands!

Yes you can, off the top of my head, I think some of the sensors on the inlet are different and injector plug, and depending what alternator you have, that may need some re wiring, some have a ring connector, some have 2 plugs.

Okay thank you, basically I'll buy a 3 plug vtr engine and I'll change all the sensors over and then the altenator so it's all plug and play then!

Just need to tackle the inlet wiring then?

so you are trying to put a 1 plug engine and rallye inlet in a 3 plug car?
In my opinion you should either run a single plug ecu and loom setup and then have that spliced to your body loom, or take the whole 3 plug loom and body loom out and fit single plug one from another.
Would it not be easier to sell the rallye inlet and mk1 setup and buy a proper 3 plug 98bhp engine? The rallye inlet isnt going to give you many gains really unless you start spending a lot of money on the engine itself.
Failing that put a 3 plug VTS setup in your car which is a better engine to begin with.

thanks for the input but it just parts i have laying around so was just brain storming, i know of a crossover loom if that would help?

tbh my plans were to get it running then get a cam of some sort, mild kind as id drive it to track and back (hopefully) then just other small bits also.

i have thought of the 3 plug vts conversion and tbh i can't find anyone with the whole setup, as id want to do the fuel tank swap with the pump and both fuel lines etc.

but i hear about a few people having issues and tbh id rather do it to minimise any chance of getting a running issue.

I've just blocked mine off with a bolt and fuel line clips, fitted a 3bar fpr on the tank pump and it runs fine. If you put a 3.5 bar on the rail and a 3 bar one on the tank then you shouldnt even need to block off the return as it'll never open the rail mounted pressure regulator but its probably best to block it for safety.

cheers for that! i know of someone with a vts conversion thats put a 4 bar in i believe and that over fuels a bit but he's got some good gains... shame his engine is most likely destroying itself..

if its mapped for that with bigger injectors, turbo charged or whatever then fine but in a standard car it'll make it overfuel

no you can get the standard one remapped but the two mentioned offer more functionality and control, at least thats what i'm lead to I believe at least with the emerald. Not sure about the pred
