Few issues with vista....
So i have decided to setup a duel boot with XP pro and Vista Ultimate.....
When i load VISTA it seems to constantly access the HDD making a right racket for about 10mins..... nothing dodgy seems to be running in the task manager... odd.
Also i get a totally different choice of resolutions with vista to that of XP. On XP i am running 1440 x 700and something
Vista is running at 1440 x 900 .... it doesnt have the option for the resolution xp uses.
Its is sharp on the graphics il give you that but it runs at 70hz refresh aswell on xp but only 60 on vista.... any ideas as to why? Display drivers upto date and monitor driver is installed. Its on a LG 19" Widescreen monitor.
Just got vista to do abit of experimenting on and seeing what it runs like untill bugs are sorted out.
CHEERS!

How about using Virtual PC? download it from microsoft then you can download Vista in a vhd file and run it on the Virtual pc, XP will boot as normal then a console appears and you can choose to run Vista, and set it so that is has access to com ports, hard disk and what ever you like. Might be worth a try.

Constant HDD access with Vista is usually due to file indexing.

By disabling that is it going to disable any useful features of vista?

Vista is cack! wait 1 more year and it will be better than xp probs! always the same microsofts smart marketing skills involved!
Install xp pro or home update it all stick with that then 6months downt he line instal vista again! you'l just get issues and problems as u go along because microsoft havent got round to fixing it all. like usual wait for customer response!
