Saxo timing belt replacement
Hi, does someone have a complete step by step guide to change the saxo 1.5D timing belt?
I would like to change it soon, do I need to remove the engine mount ?

Why do you need to loosen the cam and fuel injection pump sprocket bolts? Can't I just put timing belt on them with them in their place without loosening?

You MUST loosen those bolts. the pump timing needs to be very accurate or it wont start.
The pictures in the link I have provided is the official way to do it.

If you try it any other way, the belt won't last as long as it should or the car simply wont start.

But arent the pump and cam already in time if it is running right now with the currebt belt? If you loosen them you run the risk of losing the timing no ?

no, because you pin the hub of the pulleys, the outer section moves around 10 degrees or so to allow for accurate pump and cam timing once belt tension has been set.

I just checked the timing belt on my car, and the pulleys on mine are not slotted ( they cant be adjusted) they just go through a round hole. Does this mean that i dont disturb the bolts or what?

There are 3 bolts. remove one fully and you'll see it's slotted. The head of the bolt usually covers the whole slot.

With the belt at correct tension. you should be able to twist the belt by 1/4 with light pressure between 2 fingers. Between the 2 pulleys furthest apart.
you check the tension after you have turned the engine by hand twice back to top dead centre.
