(Back up) Copies of DVD
Want to digitise my DVD collection onto a hard disk. Two questions!
1) What program to use to rip them all?
2) How do I maximise resolution quality and get a 5.1 / 6.1 DTS soundtrack with the rip?
All help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Barny

I used to use two programs, DVD shrink and DVD encoder.
These are just freeware, and can be found on the web really easy to use too

Does that automatically record the correct soundtrack at 5.1 or do you have to select this option? How does it work as Ive never used it?

Try looking at something called AutoGK. Bit fiddly to start with, but easy and quick once its set up properly

Do AutoGK and DVD Shrink give you resolution and sound track options? (ie, recording at max res ofr a DVD and 5.1 DTS soundtrack)

With DVD Shrink it just copies the dvd as it is if it has stuff like dolby options etc then it will copy them

Can you take off all the extra crap like 16 different languages, alternate soundtracks for stereo only, bonus material, etc, etc?
