Default Places to weld

So I bought myself a MIG welder the other day, as I can weld fairly competently but never get chance to use the welder at work for my own car.

I was wondering, are there any places to do some seam welding on a saxo? Or places to weld plates etc in to strengthen the chassis or car in general?
Im looking at Spoox top mount reinforcement plates but any other suggestions? I might just be going full retard mode because ive just got a welder but just made me wonder

Awesome. Will make it stiffer or just generally a good thing to do?

I was kidding.

along the chassis legs around the engine mount and the big thing the lower arms attach to that goes onto the body. they're commonly seam welded.

If you need strength, weld in a cage and some front strut braces.

Well, to be fair, unless it's rusty I wouldn't bother

Only for serious track/race use really that you need to seam weld.

good luck with that --you will find alot of the seams were put togehter with sealer before spot welsing --so you will need to clean very well to get a proper weld that will do anything

1" weld every 3" will be fine

when peorper rally car are made you satr with a shell "in the white" which is before all sealers and any dip coats --makes it alot easier
unless its a forest rally car --doubt you will ntice any difference by time you fit a cage
unless you have bare shell you find it hard to get at every seam you ned to get too to make it worth doing + underside of car is coverd in sealer --asty job to remove -- iknow ive done it

and that is a much better idea --yes weld the strut strengthening plates on strut tops --but flatten them down first most cars they have laready bent before you get that far

I welded up the entire engine bay after a good clean down (including grinding for nice weld area) every seem, along chassis leg, around strut where it meets the wing (usually has sealer of some kind there), around both mounts, wishbone mounts adding a strengthening angle bar to bulkhead, bulkhead, added 8mm custom plate to the top of strut, everything I could get to.

My theory was that if I could stop so much flex around the front of the chassis I could possibly end up gaining a little more power / more responsiveness down to the wheels (not so much flex, so more direct power...?), kind of like uprated engine / gearbox mounts...not so much engine flex / play leading to more direct power / more responsiveness... ONLY MY THEORY.

I added Grp N engine and g/box mount kit, upper strut, it did feel a lot more responsive. I had the engine bay completely stripped out to repaint and fix a small rust patch, if its empty anyway why not?
