Music Production.
Ive always been interested in producing some of my own music, used to dj quite a lot so got a basic understanding of music. Ive got myself and oxygen 8 but I want some decent software.
Would it be best to get a computer just for this with a great sound card? As in the computer is just used for music production?
Does anyone here produce music? If so what genre and whats your setup?
What kind of budget should I have?
Is there any good tutorials out there?
Cheers

computer, and some form of software is required. next step is studio minitors, the synths, samplers etc etc
no need to get a new PC, unless you have loads of cash to burn
my home desktop set up was awesome, heres what i have at uni: could only take 1 studio monitor) lol

the M-Audio Oxygen 8 is hardware, not software
you can aquire most production software programs. reason (get 3 not 4) fruityloops, cuebase etc etc
learn to use your software before branching out and spending loads on hardware imo

you have to write them on the software. with your mouse
see what i mean now. about spending money on hardware before understanding your software
you can do pretty much everything on a program without the use of hardware.
ive had reason for like 3 years now, and still only know about half of it, theres so much to learn

I know, confused the hell out of me. It was easy to use the oxygen 8 with a free copy of fruity loops. But you cant do anything with the free copy. Used fruity loops?
Do you know how to get the oxygen 8 to work on reason 3?

ive got FL 9 and im still learning how to use it, but it seems a truly awesome piece of software, im looking at getting the Beat Thang Virtual software at the moment though, used to produce the majority of Method Mans new album and also it was used to produce 50 Cents track Do you think about me by Rockwilder...
and then progressing from that by getting the Beat Thang hardware...

I have the following:
FL studio 7, Sonar 6, Cubase etc I fine Acid Pro 6.0 very very good though and it's what i use mainly. Also a keyboard is essential imo
Reason works differently to most of the programs though, not a fan of it at all

reason has everything internal so no need for VST's
it's more complicated than logic if you know how touse logic
but then logics more complicated if you know how to use reason
point of this random post: it's not what equiptment you have, but how you use it. as i said in 1st post, anyone can have £10,000's of hardware, but it doesnt make them a good producer
