i want to jailbrake my iphone tonight. But just had a thought...if i can no longer use itunes, how do you get your musci on the phone when jailbroken?

you can use itunes when its jailbroken.

good luck jailbreaking it though if your on the most recent firmware. I dont think there is a jailbreak for it yet although i could be wrong.

yea im going to try and restore the original settings and see if it will restore the original software. there is also a guide to do it too.
I thought if its jailbroken , itunes doesnt recognise your phone software

nope thats incorrect, mine is jailbroken, has been for a very long time.

Just make sure the phone isnt set to auto update once its jailbroken as this will cause trouble.

I am struggling to get my phone back to 3.1.2 at the mo! very frustrating, been playing all night!

so i can still plug into itunes once jailbroken and sync my music?

Ahh ok starting to understand now. So what does it do with my original iTunes apps? Surely
I can't have them and the blackrain ones?

yes you can,

You can do anything you use to be able to do with the iphone EXCEPT updating the firmware. To do this you should format the phone, then update, and jailbreak again if there is one availible.

To be honest, if you could only use the cydia apps no body would jail break as there are not many good ones to be honest, no games etc worth downloading.

oh right i see, sounds good.
Im having a bit of tropuble installing blackrain atm, have finally managed to downgrade my software to 3.1.2. But keep getting error messages for blkackrain when i go to install so have got a bit more playing around to do yet. cheers for any help though

How old is your iphone?
Have you jail broke before?
Is it the 3gs?

ive had it about a year now, has never been jailbroken as i had it brand new and it is the 3G. not 3GS.
I have been reading up about jailbreaking for a while now and have finally got a rough idea how to dot it lol. Will be attempting tonight using redsnow

black rain... well blackra1n is so much better mate, well in my eyes it is, its what i do everyones with.

Have you managed to downgrade to 3.1.2 and got it working on that yet?

yea everyone i know has used blackra1n but they all use that cydia so cant be much different?
No i was having alot of toruble with it, i managed ot get it downgraded to 3.1.2 but everytime i went to open blackra1n to register it with my phone, i was getting and error message which told me re-installing it would help, but it didnt lol.
so did abit more hunting around today and have been told you can do redsnow with 3.1.3 so trying now

erm...i cant really remember what is was now mate but if redsnow fails or i dont like it, i will retry blackra1n as i have seen it done before and it looked amazing lol.
Yea mate will do, nice to find someone who seems to know what they are talking about as i have been searching about jailbraking for a while now and dont seem to have many clear answers!lol. Will contact you when i make some progress, cheers again!
