laptop not working :(
well ive only had it 14 months and had nothing but problems the screen cracked and hp would not listen to me so got that sorted, then the fan bearing went just out of warrantly couple of months bk so got that sorted put it on hibernate last night come to turn it on today and nothing shows on screen, i got a black screen but the fan is running and there is lights on also the dvd drive is making a clicking noise but when you open the drive the clicking stops and there is a red light flashing near the laser, some people have said it could be stook in the boot option as i know it isnt getting to the start up screen any help would be appreciated thanks

Try taking the battery out and with it unplugged go to switch it on, it obv wont, but hold power button down.
If that fails, i think theres some button you press on the motherbourd.

nope tryed the battery thing nothing happened i wont be buying a bloody dear laptop again lol this is my 3rd in 2 years

3 laptops in 2 years ? Jeez, should have applied for that warranty extension. For your information, laptops hate smoking environments.

the laptop hasnt been near smoke as no in the family smoke allthough it is on a lot i might try taking the cmos battery out and see, every laptop i have had the screen has fooked which under warranty will not replace so had to do that myself

try a bios flash,
just had to do one on my missues laptop had same as yours. no screen coming on, could hear the harddrive was working, quick bios flash and its working perfect again.
if you gimme a make and model of your laptop ill have a look how to flash your bios with no screen working if you want
