Playstation 3 or Xbox 360
Apart from the obvious 20gb of space, whats the difference between the 40gb and the 60gb PS3?
Would i be better of buying a 40gb and buying a massive external hard drive?
I want to play online with the A-listers
Buying advice appreciated

hi, this is a PS3, what more needs to be said about it? well, first off you have to remember this is a cut down version of the original 60Gb version, not too much to concern yourselves with, BUT, this is not backwards compatable with the old ps2/ps1 titles like the 60 model is, this is due to some motherboard modifications and removal of the GF chip. other things missing are the flash/memory card slots but if you really need these you can us a standard usb card reader, just plug it into the console. the other thing is it only has 2 usb ports on the front, these can also be expanded using a standard usb hub if you need more ports too. it still has wi-fi, blue tooth, and everything else the full 60Gb model has.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's so much quieter and cooler., 31 Oct 2007

At first sight the 40GB model doesn't seem good value when you can get the backwards compatability 60GB with two games for an extra £50, but the 40GB model contains the newer 65nm cell chip which uses less power. The best thing about the new 40GB is that it is so very much quieter and throws out a lot less heat, my old 60GB used to get very hot, but worse than that it was way too noisy which could be distracting at times.
If backwards compatability with the Playstation 2 is important to you then the 40GB won't be any use to you. Me personally, I am very happy to sacrifice the BC and extra 20GB for the quieter cooler operation of the 40GB.

A listers? None on the PS3.
You cant buy the 60gb version in the shops either anymore.
No point with an External either as you wont fill up in the built in disk in any rush.
I think the diffs are down to USB ports and backwards compatability

Spoke to a few 360 + PS3 owners and the PS3 seems to be the way forward
360's are just a timebomb for the ring of death?
Had one before and didn't use it much, gamepay was mint but the PS3 seems a little more upto date?

Only thing that is 'upto date' is Bluray.
Apart from that the 360 is much more advanced with the network play and downloadable HD movies etc etc.
Ive had an xbox for over 2 years and never had a problem.
I had my PS3 for 2 weeks and it broke.
You see alot of people moaning and see alot of broken PS3s these days compaired to the old 60gb version. Even more so with GTA release. Loads of PS3 are failing with it.
I had a PS3 hated it and went back to Xbox. Adam sold his Xbox bought a PS3 and is going to return to Xbox again. Jacko used to swear by his PS3 and slated the Xbox at any given moment, Now he actually has a Xbox im sure he will give you his input too.
If i was still going out to buy a console it would be the 360 all day long

Not to mention the GTA owners on Xbox are getting exclusive DLC which microsoft payed $50,000,000 for.

More games available for the 360.
Only game i would really want to play on the PS3 is the new metal gear solid. Apart from that nothing does it for me, not even GT.
Think you can get a 360 for about £150 these days. Call up Microsoft and blag a free wireless adapter, Then get 12months LIVE for £35.
Happy days.
Must have games for me are....
COD4
GTA
Fifa '08
GH3

PS3 will get its own content soon enough, it has been confirmed by Rockstar after all. PS3 is the best console to buy

You can either wire it to your router.
Bridge a connection from your desktop/Laptop
Get a wireless adapter for the xbox.
You then neeed a gold Live membership which is about £35 for 12months.

Well instead of connecting to the router you can use the laptop to connect to the router via wireless. Then use the NIC on your laptop to connect to the 360.
Share the wireless connection on the laptop to your NIC and use that as your bridge connection for live.
The laptop will have to be on to get a live connection tho.
