Toad - Really sorry to hear about your bad luck mate, I hope you have better luck with the next build. I still feel you shouldn't have to foot the bill but ho hum. Just lucky you had more money to chuck at it, i'm up to the hilt so if mine goes bang it's going to the incinerator!

Thanks Josh.
Considering we've made 180bhp on Northampton's rollers and on a base map, I'm hoping for 185bhp on their rollers after being fully mapped. We're going for the same 80mm oversize pistons and 12.3 : 1 compression ratio. On other respectable rollers, it could get very close to the 200bhp mark.

It was very reliable at making no where near the 180 quoted figures, drinking loads of oil isnt exactly reliable.
Longmans rep didnt end up being great before the trading stopped, seems there were a few engine failures in 205 shells which hit their reputation massively.

it seemed at the end of the line they had a few complaints.
You know what the rumour mill ends up like when a company closes down, loads of people say its because of these failed engines etc......
Out of interest your warranty, would it count as the engines over a year old but not turned a mile? even if longmans were around.
Ill try to speak to joe to see if can show you the info on the 205s

Where do Pug Performance now get there engines built?
Mixed news Toad but I guess the end result will be a reliable engine that makes good power (fingers crossed either way). Was reading the thread on Shed a while back and seriously felt your pain. Kinda makes my rocker cover disaster look microscopic.
Cant wait for an update come the weekend anyhow.

Thanks Rushski.
It's weird you know... In the past, when I didn't have my car because of issues and stuff, I used to really miss it. I've now not had it for nearly a month, and I haven't missed it much at all. Perhaps it's just down to how bad it was driving, with the fooked gearbox and dodgy jerking of the engine. Plus, all the time, effort and money I'd put into it, and it was still shit... Obviously paying for an XSi box with a Quaife and then having it die within a week put me on a real downer.
Before things started going down hill with Pug1Off, I was really excited about getting the car back. But now that I'm having to lay out more and more money, I'm not getting the same vibe. It's turned into more of a chore than something I really should be looking forward to. Ho hum...
There's still lot's to do and no cash left in the kitty. It could be a slow progress from here onwards.

I think its like all things in life, novelty has slightly worn off. Obviously the situation has ballooned that feeling. I'm sure once you get it back Saturday and realise a large chunk of the niggles are ironed out that will be a big bonus.
The last few months have seriously been a nightmare, as corny as it sounds I believe in Karma lol. So hopefully this is your reward for all that bullshit.
Progress slowing down!? Look at all the work your having done lol, I'm sure that will keep you happy for some time

Thanks Rush
For what it's worth, here's how the old engine got on at Northampton on it's first cold run, on a base map:

You can see the drop in power where the air / fuel ratio also drops. Showed some serious potential! I really hope the new engine does good. No reason why it should, apart from the different head... The stretch of torque is awesome!
