Finally had some more time on the car today! the satchshift is now installed a very nice piece of kit...although no gearbox installed yet so will need to finish all the connections once its in.

Started the engine loom ECU plug relocation this afternoon but before stripping the loom back i've made a pin board just to keep track of what goes where, the plan is to put the ECU behind the glove box.
It looks like the ECU part of the loom can be stripped / separated from the rest of the loom to just over the half way mark, this seems to be the right length for me as the loom will be put through the large cable grommet behind the brake servo.
Unfortunately i have to cut and extend 7 wires from the ECU plug to the fuel injection relay plus there are a further 3 wires from the MAP sensor plug close to the ECU plug to extend allowing it to go back to its original position.
I hate wiring

Im ok when it comes to Mk2 escort wiring, thats as basic as you can get but these modern (ish) cars are a little tricky (for me) but with a load help from the guys on the forum i'm getting to be a dab hand at modern day auto electrics...

That's a tasty one, red/yellow GTI's are the best. Wish I could see more of them there, for some reason we have more 205's in fun versions than 106's (which are also damn awesome)
And well, a Saxo is supposed to have simple electronics from what I've heard, but seeing your strugles I hope nothing goes bad on mine now.
Sorry for offtopic, but AXracing, Im not sure if my message reached you mate, seems like I can't send any PM's for some reason (they don't show up in the 'sent' folder). Im from Białystok. In case you ever need to know this in the future, Polish plates are assigned to a city (check first two or three letters)

Managed to get a couple of hours on the car yesterday to complete the ECU plug relocation on the engine loom, also had to extend the MAP sensor wires allowing the plug to be back in its original location.
Next job is to modify the large rubber grommet behind the brake servo to fit the ECU plug loom through and manufacture a bracket behind the glove box for the ECU.

Right then!! been snowed under at work for the last month so today I made myself a coffee and spent a few hours in the garage with a mission to get started on those smaller jobs that always seem to get pushed to one side.
After relocating the fuseboxes to behind the glove box I still had to manufacture a bracket for the roll over reset button, that bracket is now made and mounted...another small job off the list

The next job is to shorten the mechanical handbrake lever allowing as much space to install a compact vertical hand brake system between the satchsift and the mechanical handbrake.
I've cut 60mm out of the middle of the lever and welded both halves back together, just need to dress the weld and manufacture and new button and rod mechanism as Peugeot have used a plastic button and rod combination

Looks really good so far dude! I removed my rollover reset button and used those wires as part of my master kill switch. Works a treat and don't have to worry about killing the engine if you get a little knock mid-race or run up a hill etc.
Where on the Wirral are you? there's a few of us still about here.

Thanks pal I was looking to remove the rollover reset button but I wasn't sure if I could remove the button and join the wires to continue the circuit. Im also interested in how you have connected to the battery master switch to it - if you have any info / tips on how to do this it would be much appreciated.
Im also looking to fit an "ignition on" toggle switch and starter button but after looking at the standard wiring from the ignition I've decided to leave it as a key start for the time being.

Just been sizing up for my hydraulic handbrake installation, bloody nightmare it now appears that after shortening my standard handbrake by 60mm it's not going to fit as its fouling on the passenger seat or protruding into the passenger foot well or generally in the bloody way
I've now bitten the bullet and bought the Satchshift hydraulic handbrake unit that shares the same baseplate for the Satchshift gear lever.

Whilst waiting for the hydraulic handbrake to arrive I have taken it upon myself to remove the pedal box and steering rack for refurbishment. The pedal box backplate and steering rack body were looking a bit tatty so gave them both a good seeing to with the wire brush attachment before giving them a coat of Bonda rust primer, great for bare metal jobs.

Finally the Satchshift hydraulic handbrake has arrived and what a nice bit of kit it is! I'm hoping to get some time this weekend to change over from the Satchshift gear shifter to the combined handbrake / gear shifter combo.

Spent a couple of hours this afternoon installing the new gearshifter / handbrake combo and fitted the navigators seat to test for space, loads of room for the navigators legs....should have gone with this arrangement from the beginning instead of being a minge bag and trying to adapt the hydraulic I already had.
Sometimes its worth spending that little extra!!!

Managed to get the pedal box back in this afternoon, slowly but surely getting the engine bay ready for the engine. Although for the time being the 43000 mile standard engine will be going in from my donor car, I'm planning to give it a good clean up, check the oil pick up for crap plus new cam cover and sump gasket.

Im hoping to get started shortly on the engine once the steering rack and the brake servo assembly is back in, a few mods on the brake lines to make them fit the newly installed Satchshift hydraulic handbrake and hopefully engine time!!
The engine hasn't budged for years so I'm removing the sump and checking out the oil pick up strainer for sludge and the sump for signs of water / oxidisation, give the external surfaces a good degrease and paint plus new sump, cam cover gaskets including crankshaft oil seals. The next stage is to remove and lighten the flywheel followed by fresh oil. Also need to send the ECU to Wayne at Chip Wizard's for immobiliser deletion plus anything that will show a warning on the dash (air bag / ABS etc)

Finished the steering rack earlier, gave it a good seeing to with grease then boxed it up and installed it, now its a damn site easier to push in and out of the garage.
