AshleyP knows his music, Delboy and TomHannah a.k.a. Sox as well.
Fruityloops is what I use to use back in 04, not sure what is the main rage now..
EDIT: Seems like some people still use it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1cOaK5KtzA&feature=pyv

Fucksake. lmao I'm not sox.
Anyway op, just use whatever you feel comfortable with.
Personal favourite for me is Logic, do miss the redrum from reason when I'm using it though so rewire the 2 together = perfect.
Cubase is good aswell

Reason is the easier prog to use, when starting out. It's far less versatile than logic, but for that reason it keeps it simple when you're learning the basics.
You already have two of the best programs, just start using them and learning more

What you have is more than decent enough, learn how to use it.

hence why you rewire them together.

If you want to make Dubstep id personally use logic and mix it with native instrument packages like massive etc. If you ever need help on logic let me know as i am full certified! But as said if your not to great on programming start of with reason and rewire it with any DAW.

I know, but if you'd read what i said; for the lack of versatility reason has in itself, it makes it a lot easier to learn the basics of production.

The only lack of versatility I could think of about reason would be the lack of a real time recording function. Well it's there but you have to pay extra to buy the Record add-on. On the other side, great synths.

Reason 6 has now like a proper DAW its got separate channel strips now with plugins and everything. Its trying to make its way in to the big leagues. I wonder what its like?

I still don't consider it a proper daw since it doesn't have real time recording unless you buy it. Add to that some half shabby algorithms that produce a muddy sound, that make rewiring necessary. Hence having to purchase a real daw to plug into it. It's a really good program, not just yet a proper daw tbh.

Whats it like for recording? have you got unlimited tracks? And what'd the standard plugins like the EQ's multi band compressors etc?

Its very good mate, unlimited tracks and the plugins are good if you know how to use them properly.
Trouble is with reason theres a lot of clicking and tweaking to get that pro sound and some people dont like it that way. I love it myself and enjoy the fine tuning and routing my own stuff. You never know with reason, you might just make the next big synth lol.
In all seriousness though, ive used reason since like, er, 2.5 was it IIRC, So its kinda like home to me. It does take a while to get used to but like anything, it comes with practice.
I do use cubase too but i just prefer reason.

Sorry dude didn't see your post. Yea I've never considered it up there in the big leagues with pro tools and logic personally. Its nice to see its trying to break in to that part of the market though. As you say I've only ever used it for re wire and it does that purpose okay. maybe il give the new one a go sometime have to get a free trial or something

Tbh, (probs get some sort of stick for this)
It doesnt matter which you use, its how you use it.
I know people that have been signed and have their songs played on radio1 etc and all they have used and only use is fl studio.
