Got recommended this guide in the newbie section, worked brilliant and sorted my problem. Just for my own reassurance though (paranoid mofo), would a bit of cable from a 230v plug (used the neutral brown cable) be enough to handle this bypass and wont be a risk with current etc?

Thanks!
Hello all!
I've just had the problem with the No Fan, No Demist, No PAS occur tonight on the way home from work, so a quick Google led me here.
I've done the 'modification' suggested on page one, in 5" of snow on the coldest night of the year, and all seems to be working fine.
I just want to extend my thanks to this forum for helping me with a problem I would never have solved in a month of sundays
Tim.

After 2 months pussying about and people offering me £60 to put my car on a diagnostics machine to try and fix this problem, I attempted it myself, and fixed it for £3!
Thank you everybody for this mod, well worth it Now I don't feel like ive done a workout after every journey and my car is not a freezer anymore!!
Thank you

PROBLEM FIXED AT LAST!
i tried this mod and didn't work for me went to citroen and they wanted to replace the ignition (in excess of £300 with fitting). i went to a auto electrician and they found and fixed the problem within 45 mins. it was a relay that had gone on mine i HIGHLY ADVISE YOU CHECK THIS before changing your ignition as it only gost me £30.
hope this helps someone.

So being mechanically not electrically minded I knew I could be in trouble but tried the fix it all seems too easy and of course all three on mine (PAS, blower, heater) still buggered after crimping together.
I have both the battery and engine management lights on which no one else has mentioned
How can I check the alternator as I don't have a test meter.
Any other suggestions?

Your heater working only on the third setting comes down to a small resister on the blower that has broken, this can be replaced but it is quite tricky (blower is stashed behind the dash) there is quite a good thread on that if you do a search.
As for the combination of things not working have you tried simply wiggling the key in the ignition or the wires going into the back of the ignition as i did this to solve the same problem, eventually i replaced the small plastic switch section at the back of the ignition (£2 from scrappy) and this fixed all of the problems i was getting.
Hope that helps, plus bye bye everyone i have a new car (Audi S3 ) so am going to change my membership to Audi-sport.net.
Thanks 2 the peeps that have helped me in the past.

~bump~
I had the same problem with my Saxo Westcoast, 99 reg. One day the PAS, heater blowers and rear de-mister stopped working.! I struggled with it for about 3 weeks, took it to a garage who even after trying to charge me £60 for a diagnostics check could not find the fault... went to Halfords today and bought the tools and kit for the job shown here. Cost me no more than £14.
And the result? Works perfectly now! Very good resolution to a really shit problem lol... thanks v much for the help! Will be keeping an eye on it from now.
Reccomend this fix!

Hey There,
Just got under my dash to try this fix, and i carnt seem to find the two red wires anywhere going from my ignition barrel???
I've got as followed going from my ignition barrel
Black and brown - black connector - blue and brown, The blue wire seems to be thiner after the connector
Black and brown - gray connector - brown and white
Can anyone tell me if its any of these? or why i can't find the two red wires coming from the ignition barrel?
Any help would be very greatful,
Kind Regards.
