Default RAM

hi

im building a PC myself and i bought some RAM off eBay, everything else i bought was brand new, ive put it all together and it comes on but the monitor doesn't pick it up, could it be the ram thats not working? in the listing it says his motherboard wasn't compatible with the ram but he tried it in his board and it works.

i was wondering if he's put it in his board and its on compatible would that have broke it?

heres the ram

Does your motherboard support DDR3 ram? Which mobo do you have?

Most still only support ddr/ddr2 although ddr3 is becoming increasingly common very quickly.

Probs duff memory Kingston arnt very good in my opinion as I bought some and one stick was broke, Corsair is the best I would say.

Does it beep at all?
Have you tried putting one in at one time and turning on?
If it doesn't work try the other ports for the RAM as sometimes they can be dodgy..

Hope this helps

EDIT:

http://www.memtest86.com/

forgot about this, burn to disc and boot up in it like diagnostic of ya memory

Make sure you buy RAM that's supported by your motherboard.
It will still work but it won't recognise it's name

Like with my motherboard I've got a DFI LanParty NF590.
Like 2 years ago it was one of the best boards on the market but it didn't support the best AM2 AMD the 6400 Black Edition. Thats the CPU I bought, so on my PC it just says AMD Unknown CPU Brand 3.2ghz.
When it should say AMD 6400 Black Edition 3.2ghz.

Go on their website that should help you
