Setting up remote access on Server. - Saxperience

Basically just searching through google etc on how to set up remote access on a server.

Basically for the User to view their files via and ip address from anywhere and then download their files.

Using the server as a file server this is basically part of a project im am doing for uni, just thought i would post to get any knowledge from you guys

so you want to set up a ftp server then? What operating system are you using and do you have access to the router that the machine will reside on to forward the correct ports?

erm, well i don't want to use ftp but i don't see any other way?

Yes i have access to my router at home, which i will be using.

using windows 7,

im running the server on virtual machine its windows server 2003

Well ftp is your only option really for file transfers, Server 2003 has wizards that make it very easy to set up.

hhmm, will look into it but sint their another way without using FTP?
