I just renewed my mk1 VTR (99) for 6 months & it cost me £101.75.

I would expect yours to be the same.

EDIT: just checked the DVLA site - if its registered AFTER Mar 01 then it'll be £79.75

On my Mk2 vtr, i think i paid around £145 for a year.

Yeah the mk2's are cheaper on tax than the mk1's because they work on the new emissions system.

Hate this new tax system, its a right load of crap.

Not if youre running a pre march 2001 VTS! Then it stays at £185 a year.

I dont get that, mk1 VTR tax is higher than a mk2 VTR due to the "emissions". So why then is a mk1 VTS cheaper than a mk2 VTS (or one thats registered after 2001)

Correct me if am wrong on that though as am not to sure?

Good job they dont actually check the emmissions when you buy your tax and choose to go on book figures instead!

Yes, all cars post march 2001 had to have emisions, so unless you SVA an old car for some reason, then it'll always be at the over 1550cc tax rate, which is £185 this year and will probably stay at that level-ish for the next couple of years
