Simple Warning - Phone Warranty - Saxperience

A few of you know that a couple of weeks ago I had a minor issue with my phone. I put it on charge and it immediately started sizzling, sparking and smoking. I unplugged it straight away but it was too late. The connector port and bottom of the phone was completely melted.

Now, two weeks ago I sent it to Samsung for repair as it's still in warranty. After alot of messing about I finally got some answers today.

Samsung were REFUSING to repair the phone due to "liquid damage" Now, the moisture detector in the battery compartment was NOT triggered. The phone has NOT been wet. I told them this.

Now, the bit that affects you. Almost all phones sold these days have a connector port WITHOUT a rubber shield. It turns out that humid weather had caused a tiny amount of moisture within the connector port and then caused the phone to catch fire.

ANY indication of moisture = Instant warranty void.

Luckily, due to a nightmare two weeks with Samsung they have decided to repair the phone as a Good Will Gesture.

Bare this in mind guys! I'd hate to see others stung the same way!

If you had it less than a year, I would have taken it back to the shop i got it from.. Just like when i got RROD on my xbox, I'd had it a week shy of a year.. Rather than send it to Microsoft, i took it into game, instant replacement! Not sure if a phone company would do the same like..

I don't see how humid weather could fuck a phone over though, my iPhone comes in the bathroom when i have a bath or shower, plenty of moisture in there, not had any issue with any of the 3 I've had!

Bit of a shitter if Samsung are shafting people with that like

This doesn't apply anymore. You'd be returning it on warranty. Samsung now only offer a REPAIR WARRANTY. Meaning that you must send it off to be repaired before a replacement will be issued.

Samsung suck, Least apple let you take it back to an apple store, and let you trade it in, plus a few quid to buy a reconditioned unit if its fucked

Your opinion, you are entitled to it..

It may have better internals, but the iPhone is a miles better built phone, and iOS is way better system to use.

Every Samsung and HTC and such i have ever held, just feel like cheap tat

HTC One ftw, it is by far the best phone I have ever had and I have strayed away from Apple so am by no means biased.

Made of light weight metal and is extremely responsive, slightly bigger than the Ifail 5 but that soon seems like a good thing. Screen and audio quality is brilliant also.

They won't be going bust, they make money year on year but their profit has shrunk as og late. They are still 4th largest phone make and imagine in places like China they are pretty big.

I agree! Maybe not the best phone I've ever had but its damn good.

I think the reason smiith thinks it feels cheaper is because its much lighter than an iPhone despite being larger. And made out of aluminium rather than glass and shit lol.
I've had mine a good few months now, never goes slow, never freezes, battery isn't horrendously bad etc. The only thing I'm not keen on is the camera, even though people see the pics and say its quality, I'm not as impressed for some reason

iOS is a Linux rip off. It's no better than Android. both are horribly inefficient.

iOS is built from Unix not Linux. Hardware and software integration will always be better. Notice how Android phones require 4 cores and 2GB of ram to run smoothly yet an iPhone can out perform on half that spec? iOS may lack as many features but it is far more refined.

I disagree slightly

also, see the bit I highlighted, would you like to back that up for me? I had smoothish running android on a RaspberryPi and trust me, it's no where near the specs you've mentioned.

iPhone only dominated the market because people wanted to be hipster - that doesn't mean it's the best.

Typical apple, it's all looking fancy and smooth and expensive, but it's not hardocre, and usually has some funny security loop holes

they've always been like that.

Apple succeeded for its simplicity of use.. Even a 4 year old can pick it up, and know how to work it within 10 minutes.. A 10 year old can learn all the features of the phone in 10 minutes.. That's their selling point!

Nothing to do with hipster, it had all kicked off before that! Plus the fact most kids got iPods years ago, when they were in school, so just common sense to most to get an iPhone, which runs the exact same system!

Simplicity of use isn't really a selling point when it comes to choosing a brand. They're all the same style. home page, apps with coloured icons.

Menus are logical.

I never said it was better, i said it was better to use

which it is, like i stated, even children can sus an iphone/ipad out in next to no time!

Which is why more people buy apple.. They have a go on their mates, its easy to use, they get one!

I had a brand new xperia arc S that i had in my back pocket. I think i must have sat on it and popped the LCD but not cracked the glass.... It just came out my pocked looking like a dropped laptop screenbleed.

Sent it to Sony and to be fair to them they replaced the screen free..... No idea how i got away with that one.

I work in I.T and sometimes we have to deal with Samsung support when we need something repairing or replacing under warranty and they are notoriously difficult to deal with. They passed me from one person to another, it was just a nightmare. All for a tablet keyboard that wouldn't click on properly.
